[고수경]

READING.

  1st: intensive farming에는 terrace, irrigation, homegarden 등이 있다.

        terrace 는 household 단위에서 이루어졌고  wall 을 세우거나 관리하는데 많은 노력이 들지 않았기에 분산

        irrigation 은 처음부터 construction 에 많은 노동력 필요. 무너지기도 하면 다시 힘모아서 치워야 함. 물을 어떻게

        끌어다 쓸것인가에 대한 다툼이있으므로 state가 아니더라도 관리해주는 center?가 필요

        ???는 처음에는 만들기 어렵고 많은 노력이 필요하여 state의 개입 필요but 그후에는 household 가 알아서 함

2nd: 우리의 solar system 은 하나의 물질?에서 시작함, (잘 기억나지 않지만) 뭔가 explode 해서 그 파편이 태양 주위

       를 돌아다니게 됨

       태양 가까이 있는 파편은 Mercury, .... Earth 등이 됨- light한 물질까지 끌어들일 gravity 없어서 high density

       태양 멀리 있는 것들은 ice 중심으로 light 한 것들이 모임. 특히 ice 가 planet의 massive size 와 low density에

       기여함

3rd: K-T boundary에 공룡멸종. scientists 들은 다양한 theory 제시-

       그러나, 여기서 scientists 들은 공룡의 멸종이 global extinction에 포함된다는 사실 잊고 있음. 위에 제시된  

       theory들은 그것을 설명하지 못함-land plants, clams, squi??등이 멸종함

       전 단락에서 제기된 조건 만족하는 theory 제시. 운석이 지구로 떨어져 dirt 와 smoke가 햇빛 가림

-첫 지문 1번 문제 풀 때 지문에서 intensive agriculture을 말하는 부분 정확히 찾을 수 없어서 NOT MENTIONED 된   

   것이 뭔지 모름

_ 첫 지문 irrigation에 관한 문제에서 지문의 silt 정확한 뜻 몰라서 고민- mud로 유추하고 state차원의 개입이 필요하다

   는 답 고름

- 항상 다른 topic에 비해 사진기, 축음기, 오늘 나온 astronomy는 한번 쭉 읽어도 그 구조가 머릿속에 잘 들어오지 않

   음. 2nd 지문은 가장 자신 없는 topic 중 하나로 위축되었으나 문제풀면서는 쉬웠음.

- 전반적으로 쉽게 풀고 시간 5분 정도 남았는데 원래 동의어 문제에서 시간 오래 걸린 적 거의 없는 데  오늘은 꽤 걸림

        strictly: exclusively 랑 mainly 고민 후 exclusively

         ( 평소 exclusive, exclusively 뜻 헷갈려 함, but 지문 내용이 global extinction 보다는 only dinosaur's

            extinction 에 집중하는 관점 지적한 것이므로 mainly 는 아닌 것 같다고 생각)

        crisis: collapse, loss, disturbance 고민하다 disturbance 지우고 둘중 collapse

         ( collapse, loss 사이에서 고민할 때 뒤에 대구? 형식으로 the disappearance of dinosaur 을 보고 loss인

           가? 했으나 crisis 와 loss는 뜻이 다른 것 같아 collapse)

        allegedly: allege 는 주장하다->allegedly 는 주장하게? 추측하건데?    이렇게 유추해서 supposedly

        confined to- limited to 와 link to 사이에서 잠깐 망설임

- 3rd 지문에서 2 paragraph 에서 어떤 동물의 멸종이 중요한 이유를 묻는 문제에서 지문내용 다 이해했지만 지문에서

   'previous mass extinction도 극복했기에' 중요하다 라는 찾지 못함 시험장에서는 그냥 나의 느낌으로 품. 다시 생각

    해보니 K-T extionction 은 몇번의 mass extionction 도 살아남은 생물조차 멸종시킨 global, destructive 한것-> 단

    지dinosaur 보다는 global extinction 을 강조하려고 한것 같음

- 평소 공부 할 땐 insertion 문제, 마지막 문제에서 고민 많이 했는데 오늘은 비교적 쉽게 품

LISTENING.

Conversation1: 학생이 transcript 못 받아서 housing office에 옴. dormitory 에 같이 살던 두 친구는 이미 나갔고 자

                        신도 나갈것임.->직원: there is a crack on wooden part of sofa->학생: 한 달 전 일임.

                        maintanence office에도 repair의뢰했지만 연락 없어서 중요하지 않은 줄 앎->직원: online 에 repair

                        request해야함. 무슨 책에 써있음. 어쩌다 그랬냐?-> roomate가 어둠속에 돌아다니다가 부셨다?( 잘

                        모르겠어요)-> ->직원: roomate와 나눠서 내면 그리 비싸지 않음-> 학생: 그렇겠네요

Conversation2: 교수가 학생의 그림을 봐주고 있는 상황.그림에 crack 이 많아서 학생에게 그린 과정을 물어봄->학생:

                        무언가 2개을 겹쳐서 말린후 canvas준비. fat paint로 그리고 ??효과를 주고 싶어서 그위에 lean paint

                        로 그림-> 교수: oil paint가 어떻게 마르는 지 아니?->학생: oxydize-> 교수: thick paint는 마를 때

                        expand&contract하는데 기다리지 않고 lean paint 를 칠해서 먼저 마르는 바람에 crack이 생김

Artifical reef:    고의로 바다에 artificial reef를 만들어 marine creature의 habitat이 되도록 한다. hole 이나 crevice가

                       많아야 함. smooth surface는 별로.  artifical reef의 표면을 먼저 어떤 작은 생물이 뒤덮는데 얘네가

                       bio mass? 의 기초가 됨. concrete가 최적의 물체임. 떠내려가지 않게 무거워야 하고 durable해야함.

Miniature portrait: 어떤 시대의 미국미술은 유럽의 것보다 솔직하고 직접적이었다. 이때 miniature portrait이 유행.but

                            사진의 발달로 오래 가진 못함. miniature portrait 아주 작고 여성 화가도 많이 그림.  당시 일반 초상

                            화는 몸 전체를 그리고 남성 화가들의 영 역. 하지만 miniature portrait은 여성도 exhibition할 수 있

                            었음.(남녀 화가 공존하는 몇 안되는 영역 중 하나). miniature portrait 은 business card처럼 쓰였

                            는데 어떤 여성화가의 miniature portrait을 보면 화가의 직업이 드러나지 않고 비스듬하게 그려져 있

                            음. 이것은 당시 전형적인 여성의 모습(그녀의 동생도 그렇게 그림). 반면에 남성화가는 심각한 표정

                           에 화가의 직업이 직접 드러나게 그렸다. 그러나 후의 여성의 miniature portrait 보면

                           straightforward 하다.

Marketing: customer's purchase decision making step 5. 대부분의 customer가 이 steps를 지키지만 몇몇은 skip

                 하거나 순서를 뒤바꾼다. 이것이 impulse purchase이다? 

                 impulse purchase를 부추기는 방법 3가지- P-O-P? 남자 학생이 쥬스 충동구매 한 내용을 예로 듦

                                                                                - instore demonstration 잘 기억이 안나요. cookie sample을

                                                                                   나눠주는 내용 이었던 것 같음

Atmosphere: 오늘 날 대기는 nitrogen 78%, oxygen 21%. 그런데 stable한 nitrogen과 달리 oxygen 은 easily

                    comebine with oher substance. 교수의 질문-how can oxygen be replenished?->학생: 식물의 광합

                    성-> 교수:화산 활동시 나오는 CO2을 이용하여 바다 미생물이 광합성후 산소 배출+ 동물들이 바다에 묻

                    히면서 불안정한 산소와 결합할 탄소가 적어져 대기중의 산소가 증가. + land plants 의 등장과 광합성+

                     산소가 다시 조금 줄어들게 된 이유는 들었는데 생각이 안나네요.

-  첫번째 conversation에서 ?? power을 언급한 이유무든 문제- ??power을 들은 기억이 없고 note에도 없어서 4개 답

    지중 아닌 것 지우고 sofa가 다친 이유? 선택  

- 첫째 conversation 문제 어렵진 않았지만 푸는데 시간 많이 할애해서 첫번째 set 푸는데 시간 쫓김. 모자라진 않았음.

   두번째 conversation은 문제가 어려웠음.

   ( gesso?를 바르는 이유- prepare canvas라고 notetaking 해놓았지만 note에 gesso대신 caso? 라고 적어놔서 알

     아보기 힘들었음.

      fat paint 와 lean paint 의 차이점- 두개 답지는 확실히 아니니 지우고 '다른 것과 섞이지 않는다' 와 '사용하기 쉽다'

      사이에서 고민. lean paint 와 섞이지 않게 마른 후에 사용해야 하고 thick paint 자체가 다 마를 때 까지 기다려야 하

      므로 사용하기 쉬운 건 아니라고 생각)

-  Artificial reef에서 crab같은 동물이 중요한 이유 묻는 문제 두가지 답지 에서 고민- '다른 생물의 먹이가 된다' ,' 더

    큰 biomass의 기초가 된다' -> 잘은 기억나지 않지만 note에 'crab: low  chain-> more animals' 이런 식으로 써있

    었고 다른 생물의 먹이가 된다는 내용은 들은 기억이 없어서 ' 더 큰 biomass의 기초가 된다' 선택

-  Artificial reef 에서 crab이야기 나온 부분은 이해를 못함.   

-   Miniature portrait 에서 여성이 miniature portrait을 택한 이유- 'exhibition 할 수 있어서'는 자신있게 골랐지만 나머

     지 답지는 다 아닌 것 같아서 'few men joined'와 'cannot receive formal training'에서 고민하다 'cannot receive

     formal training 선택(few men joined는 ' 'miniature portrait is one of few area where male and female artists

     could do' 부분으로 낚을려는 의도 같아서..)

-    Miniature portrait에서 후의 그림이 나타내는 바 를 묻는 문제' - 감이 안왔음. 여성의 지위 상승의 문맥상 맞는것 같
      아서 선택.

-    Marketing에서 교수가 남학생이 충동구매한 이유에 대해 어떻게 설명했는가- 들을 때 'colorful','bottle'이 들려서

      쥬스병이 예뻐서 구매했다고 이해했음. 문제 풀 때는  두 단어로 유추해서 colorful 한 sale 표시인가? 선택

=> reading과 listening section을 정리하고 느낀 문제점은

  일단 reading은 지문을 정리할 때 글이 어떤 구조로 짜였는가 대충 느낌이 오는데 lecture내용은 어떤 것은 그냥 들은 

  것 나열하는 수준인것 같아요

   또 listening을 정리해보니 생각보다 정확하게 못 듣거나 detail을 놓쳐서 유추해서 푼 것이 많네요ㅠㅠ

   그래도 여태껏 시험에서 lecture 듣는 중에 멍해져서 detail 놓치는 경우가 꼭 있었는데 오늘은 listening이 쉬워서 그

   랬던 건지 몰라도 멍  안 때리고 들을 수 있는 만큼 들어서 좋아요ㅎㅎ

   reading은 여태껏 다 알고 풀었다고 생각했는데 오늘 정리해보니 감으로 푼 것도 있어서.....ㅋ

   평소에 제가 insertion하고 마지막 유형이 약해서 걱정했는데 오늘 시험은 걱정했던 문제는 무난했던 것 같아요

   그런데 동의어 찾는 문제에서 생각보다 애를 먹어서 당황했어요

   처음 문제에서 답이 안보여서 4분정도 1번 문제에 쓴 것도 아쉽고...

SPEAKING

*1번이랑 2번 문제는 litening 더미 나올 때 다른 사람 꺼 듣고 brainstorming 했어요

 Q1: What university should do in order to protect environment?

       I think university should provide students with education to encourage them to buy eco-friendly products.

       Because, first, it would be effective. By encouraging studnets to buy eco-friendly products, university can

       stop corporations to produce harmful products to the environment. (I've read about article that these

      days, more and more companies are making eco-friendly products beccause they realized a numner of

       customers are caring about environmental issue)

       Moreover, it does not take much money.

       Students do not have enough money and what they have to do is just select eco-friendly products in

      market. They don't need to spend further money.

      For these reasons, (I think university should educate students to buy eco-friendly products)

       *첫번 째 괄호는 원래 말하려고 했는데 답변하다 보니 시간에 쫓겨서 생략했고요 두번째 괄호는 말하다 끊겨서 말

         못했어요

       * 다른 사람 답변하는 것 듣고 그 사람이 recycling 하겠다길래 '환경보호하기 위해 내가 할 수 있는 것' 인 줄 알고

          buying eco-friendly products 준비해놨다가 university 나와서 education으로 돌려서 답변했는데 지금 보니까

           이상하네요ㅠㅠ

Q2:  Do you prefer to buy your own books and movies or borrow them from libraries?

       I prefer to buy my own books or movies to borrow them. If I borrow movies or books, I would not be able

       to put them into my collection which is my hobby. Also, I cannot fully enjoy them when I borrow them. On

       the other hand, if I buy my own books, I can add them to my collection. Since I want to be an author, I like

       to read books and classify them. Furthermore, I can thorougly enjoy them. I can take notes on books and

       watch moview over and over again.

      * 밑줄 친 부분은 말할 때도 문법 적으로 이상한 것 같아서 어버버 거린 부분인데 대충 저렇게 말했던 것 같아요.

      * 어제 수업한 내용(선택안한 내용의 단점부터 말하고 내 선택의 장점) 적용시켜보려고 했어요ㅎㅎ세번째 유형은

         시험장에서는 생각이 안 났어요ㅠㅠ

      * specific한 내용 만드려고 'author가 되고 싶고 collect books 하는 취미있다' 넣어서 답변했어요

Q3: In the letter, Paul argues that poetry reading should increase attendance by changing its time to weekday

      afternoon and adding participation? elements.

      And the woman is in favor of his idea. First, she says that it would be great chance for students to enjoy

      their break time.  Since students rest on weekdayafternoons after busy day, she thinks students can enjoy

      poetry reading in break time.

      Moeover, the woman agrees with that it would be fun for poetry reading to have more students. She also

      says that students should encourage their friends to join the poetry reading.

      For these reasons, the woman is in favor of the letter.

      *정신없이 답변해서 정확히 기억이 안 나지만 비슷하게 썼어요. 다만 이것보다 더 비문?이 많았어요.

     *쓰다보니 'if poetry reading moves its time to weekday afternoon' 을 넣어서 it would be a great chance for

     * female's second reason 은 어떻게 답변했는지 정확히 기억이 나지 않아서 다시 써봤어요

       students to enjoy theiir break time 이라고 써야 더 맞을것 같네요.  

     * 여자의 의견 이야기를 시작할 때도 in favor of를 쓰고 끝낼 때도 in favor of 를 씀.

Q4: According to the reading passage, if the company force employees to do specific task, it can  make them

       incapable of doing task out of thier area, which is called trained incapacity. In the lecture, the professor

       gives example of how trained capacity has negative effects on the company. In the mobile phone

       comapny, it force employees to do different tasks. One employee examined if already-made products are

       ok.  One day, he found the phone without manual, but he did not report it, because he thought it was not

       his area. So the phone was published in store and customers made complaints about the company's

       products.

     *it force employees to do different tasks는 '회사가 직원에게 각자 하나의 일을 시켰다' 가 아닌 '다양한 일을 시켰

      다'로 해석됨 ->it force each employee to do single task(o)

     * 항상4번 끝맺음을 어떻게 해야 할지 모르겠어요.  

 Q5: In the conversatoin the female students have a problem, because she cannot take history? class of her

      favorite professor.

      Then she came up with two possible solutions. First, she can just wait for 3 months to take the class in

      intensive summer course. Or else, she can  take the same class with different professor.

      If I were in her situation, I would choose the second option. Because, first, if I have to wait more in order to

      see my family. Moreover, even though I have to study with different professor, I can learn different thing

      while taking course.

      For these reasons, I  would recommend her the second option.

      *어제 배운대로 notetaking 하고 답변도 2번 option 택한 다음에 7 step 에서 '4-6-5-7번 양보절 써서 6번의 장점'

        적용

      *템플릿 안 지키고 여태 하던 버릇대로 답변 ex) 문제는 동명사 형태로 제시

      * note taking 할 때 정말 필요한 detail만 적는 연습 더 필요(1번 solution 완전히 파악 못함)

      * second reason 할때 '만약 내가 ~ 한다면' 을 넣어서 ~ 하겠지만(-) ~해서 좋다(+) 해야함

Q6: In the lecture the professor explains how animals develop their features, so that they can digest grass.  

      Animals use physical and chemical process to break down grass. The first one is physical gidestion. In

      physical digestion, animals physically break down grass into small pieces. For example, rabbits' flat teeth

      help them to break down grass. On the other hand, in chemical process, animals use enzymes or ?? to

      break down grass into molecules, so that they it can be used for their body. For example, cows have

      large rooms in their stomach (and micro organisms in there faciliate digestion of grass. )

      * 어제 배운대로 example 사이의 대조적인 관계 주의해서 notetaking

      * 답변 하면서도 'break down'이 너무 많이 사용 된것 느낌.

WRITING.

1. INTEGRATED.

 reading: 3 possible functions of nawhals' tusks

               - piercing ice sheet in order to breathe.

               - fighting and defending territory

               - serving as a sensor detecting water properties to survive

listening: weakness of reading's suggestions

               - too flexible to break down the ice./observer: stick head out of the hole in ice

               - not for fighting, but to communicate/ in distance: fighting, close look: communication

               - female nawhals do not have tusk/ female: longer longevity than male

=>   Both the lecture and reading are talking about possible fuctions of nawhals' tusks. The lecturer    

   casts doubt on the reading's suggestions pertaining to the fuction of nawhals' tusks.

       To begin with, the lecturer challenges the reading's point that nawhals use their tusks to penetrate the ice

   sheet, so that they can breathe. According to the lecturer, nawhals' flexible tusks cannot help them with

   breaking the ice sheet. He also says that observers mentioned in the reading would witness nawhals stick

   their head out of the the ice sheet which was already broken down.

       Moreover, the lecturer opposes the reading's idea that  nawhals defend their territory with their tusks.

   The lecturer maintains that nawhals' tusking appears as fighting, only if it is viewed in far distance. Besides,

   he adds that nahals actually communicate with each other making use of their tusks.

      Furthremore, the lecturer refutes the reading's argument that nawhals' tusks functon as sensors, in order

   to survive. The lecturer indicates that female nawhals rarely have tusk. He also asserts that female nawhals'

   longer longevity than male nawhals' cannot be explained, if their tusks serve as sensors.

* 1st point 에서 tusk가 flexible한 것 설명하면서 30cm 늘어난다... 이런 detail 놓쳐서 그냥 저렇게 썼는데 감점 요인인

   가요?

2. INDEPENDENT

 Q: ambitious dreams VS realistic dreams

  =>   Most people have been pursued different deams since they were young, but a number of them give up

     when they encounter realistic barrier. However, in my opinion, I believe that people should follow their

     dreams, even if they are ambitious. This is because, chasing ambitious dream help people to achieve

     successful accomplishment. Furthermore, people can learn valuable lessons in their lives while following

     ambitious objectives.

         To begin with, pursuing ambitous goals can help people to really achieve their dreams. Indeed, most

     succeeded people have had big dreams since they were young. For instance, Park-Jung-Hee, the former

     president of my country, Korea, was born under poor famers. When he was young, he suffered from

     starvation, since the time was just after Korean War. However, he had a fixed dream to be  a president, so

     that he can develop Korea's economy. Therefore, he studied hard earnestly, and finally, he was elected

     was a president. From the example, we can know that having ambitious objectives can lead people to

     success.

         Moreover, people can obtain priceless lessons in their lives when dreaming ambitious goals. People

     can learn patience or reponsibility while taking challenges to attain their objectives. For instance, when I

     entered high school, I was poor at mathematics. However, I hoped to be good at math, so I appied for math

     competition at my school. In order to place in the competition, I solved math problems all day during my

     summer vacation and it was really challenging to me. Although I failed to place in the competition, I could

     learn patience from the experience. As my example inicates, chasing ambitious goals teaches

     people important lessons in their lives.

         To sum up, having ambitious dreams not only leads people to the way to actually make

      accomplishments, but also, at least teaches them significant lessons in their lives. In light of these

      reasons, I believe that people should pursue their goals, even if they are ambitious.

 * 쓰고 나니 딱 30분->proof reading 할 시간 없었음

 * body 1의 example에서 어떻게 ambitious 한 꿈이, 어떻게 real success까지 인도한 부분이 vague.

     When he was young, he suffered from starvation, since the time was just after Korean War.-> Even though

     being a president of a nation was somewhat unrealistic goal for him at that time, he nver gave up and made

     continuous efforts in order to be a president. 가 낫지 않을까. 그런데 여기서도 continuous effort를 구체적으로

     명시하지 못하고 있는 건 박정희 전 대통령의 이야기를 잘 몰라서 인듯. example을 쓸 땐 구체적으로 쓸 수 있고 내

     가 잘아는 personal  expereince가 좋을 듯.

 * body 2에서 내가 어떻게 patience를 배웠는가, patience는 왜 valuable lesson in my life인가를 구체적으로 써야함

 * 어제 선생님께서 주신 프린트에서 independent를 조금 공부했는데 이해가 확실히 되지 않았던 부분도 있었고

    template 에 적응이 안 됬기 때문에 오늘 시험에서는 30분 안에 완성하는 것이 중요하다고  생각, 평소 써왔던 대로

    썼어요. 이제부터 제대로 배워서 다음 시험에서는 가르쳐 주신대로 적용할게요.

* writing은 유형 관계없이 쓰다보면 같은 단어를 쓰면 안된다는 생각에 자꾸 동의어를 생각하는데 시간을 많이 쓰고, 쓰는 단어도 문맥상 어감이 맞지 않는 문제가 있음- ambitious dreams의 다른 표현이 떠오르지 않아 고민

* 복수/단수 쓰는 문제 ex) 위의 통합형에서 sensors, sensor
