1. 의미

  부부의 날은 매년 5월 21일, ‘둘(2)이 하나(1)가 된다’는 상징성을 담아 제정된 법정기념일입니다. 가정의 달에 부부 관계의 소중함을 되새기고, 건강한 가족 공동체를 지향하는 날로 자리 잡았습니다.

2. 유래

  1995년 권재도 목사가 어린이날 방송에서 “엄마·아빠가 함께 사는 게 소원”이라는 아이의 말을 듣고 충격을 받아 운동을 시작했습니다. 이후 2003년 국회 청원 통과,2007년 대통령령으로 달력에 표시되며 법정기념일이 되었습니다.

3. 이 날에 열리는 특별한 지역 행사들

1) 성남:

성남에서 열리는 세계 전통 혼례 축제

세계 전통 혼례 축제 성남시청 광장에서 열리는 ‘세계 전통 혼례 축제’는 다문화 가족과 시민이 함께 즐기는 세계 문화 교류의 장입니다.

국기 퍼레이드: 28개국 국기가 광장을 수놓으며 개막을 알립니다.

전통 혼례 체험:  한국, 중국, 베트남, 캄보디아, 필리핀 등 5개국의 혼례복을 입은 부부가 무대에 올라 각국의 결혼 문화를 직접 소개합니다.

축하공연: 풍물패, 합창단, 미8군 브라스밴드, 아프리칸 댄스컴퍼니 등 다양한 무대가 이어집니다.

체험·먹거리 부스: VR 게임, 캘리그래피, 무료 법률·비자 상담, 어린이 경찰복 체험,

각국 음식 체험: 중국·베트남·필리핀·가나·인도 등 세계 각국의 음식을 맛볼 수 있는 부스가 운영됩니다. 

이 축제는 성남에 거주하는 약 3만 명의 외국인 주민과 시민이 함께 어울리며, 세계인의 날(5월 20일)을 기념하는 의미도 담습니다.

창원에서 열리는 세계부부의 날 기념식

세계부부의 날 기념식: 창원에서는 ‘세계부부의 날 기념식’이 성대하게 열립니다.

시상식: 모범 부부 12쌍과 기관 1곳을 선정해 공로를 기립니다. 장애 자녀를 돌보며 봉사한 부부, 순직 남편을 대신해 가족을 지켜낸 아내, 장수 부부, 봉사 부부 등 다양한 사례가 소개됩니다.

전야제: 부부 합창단 공연, 문화 세미나, 사랑 고백 이벤트 등 참여형 프로그램이 진행됩니다.

기념식 프로그램: 축하 공연과 함께 부부 사진전, 장미꽃 나눔 행사도 마련됩니다.

Couple’s Day is a legal commemorative day observed every year on May 21st, symbolizing “two (2) becoming one (1).” It reminds us of the importance of marital relationships during Family Month and emphasizes the value of building healthy family communities.

The idea began in 1995 when Pastor Kwon Jae-do heard a child say on a Children’s Day broadcast, “My wish is for Mom and Dad to live together.” Shocked by this, he started a movement to promote the importance of marriage. In 2003, the proposal passed the National Assembly petition process, and in 2007 it was officially designated as a legal commemorative day by Presidential Decree, appearing on the national calendar.

Eve Celebration: Programs include a couple’s choir performance, cultural seminars, and a “love confession” event.
