SERMON OF THE DAY “ JESUS IS GOD “
Robert Comeau
Don't let the devil play a trick on you . Muslems say Jesus Christ never called himself God or was called God so I wrote this
Yes, baptists believe in the trinity. It is defined as one God in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The word is not in the bible. It is latin and comes from Tertillian in North Africa who wrote ," A Trinity of One Divinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit ." However the word Godhead is used Acts 17:29,Col 2:9, Romans 1:20 3 times.
You could say absolute oneness absolute threeness.
Baptists believe that Jesus Christ said He is God.
John 10:30-33 " I and my Father are one " the Jews knew he was saying he was God because they said, " thou..., makest thyself God. "
John 14:10 " I am in the Father and the Father is in me "
John 12:44+45 We believe this is where Jesus is equating himself with God "He that believeth on me, believeth not on me but on him that sent me. "
John 1:1 In the beginning... the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus is identified as the Word of God in Revelation 19:13
Jesus’ omnipresence. That means he is everywhere. Meditate on John 3:13, where Jesus is with Nicodemus. John 3:13 “And no man hath ascended up to heaven , but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.” Jesus is on earth and states he is in heaven at the same time. Only as deity could he claim that.
Jesus Christ is called God
In Isaiah 9:6 a prophesy about Jesus' First Coming calls him The mighty God.
In John 20:27+28 Jesus asks Thomas to believe in him and Thomas says , " My Lord and my God. "
Acts 28, " God, which he has purchased with his own blood."
Acts 9:5 " And he said Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said , I am Jesus.
Romans 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever.
I Timothy 3:16 God was manifest in the flesh
I John 5:20 Jesus Christ. This is the true God
Muslems accuse Jesus of having no father.
2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. You may be confused because Jesus was begotten ( born )
as a man and not begotten as a god. However Jesus was present in original glory see John 17:5 And now O Father , glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was

Trinity Defended
Don't let hereticks shake your faith in God. Here are some verses demonstrating the trinity. In Gen 1:26 " And God said, Let us make man in our image", Isaiah 6:8 " Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? " Hosea 12:4 " And there he spake with us." The ending of Elohim is plural and always refers to the trinity. In Psalm 45:6+7 2 persons show up , " God, thy God ". Psalm 110:1 " The Lord said to my Lord " Col 1:2 " from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ "
3 persons show up in Matthew 28:19. " baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." name is singular.
In Isaiah we have " the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me. " Isaiah 48:16 referring to Jesus Christ. In Matthew 3:16+17 " And Jesus , when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water;and,lo, the heavens were opened up to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:17 And lo, a voice from heaven saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." In John 15:26 we have Jesus, the Spirit , and the Father
In John 1 5:8 There are three that bear witness ( tell truth ) the Spirit, the water ( referring to Jesus physical birth-the water breaks-) and the blood
( blood Jesus shed out that he inherited from his Father--see paternity tests)
You see why they want to dismiss this verse because it promotes the trinity doctrine.
When Abraham believed God it was counted to him as righteousness and God gave him his righteousness and he was saved, When I believed the gospel I Cor 15:3+4 I received Jesus’ righteousness, doesn’t that make him deity ?
Another fact proving the Deity of Christ is Christ's usage of the I AM attributed to God in the old testament
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Jesus said I AM the bread of life John 6:35
I AM the light of the world
I AM the door of the sheep
I AM the good shepherd
I AM the resurrection and the life John 11:25
I AM the true vine
Jesus is the great I AM
The Holy Spirit is the Lord
Acts 5:3+4
2 Corinthians 3:17 “ Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
The Holy Spirit is expressly called Jehovah, a name that is utterly incommunicable to all creatures, and which can be applied to none except the Great Supreme. It was Jehovah who spoke by the mouth of all the holy Prophets from the beginning of the world (Luke 1:68, 70), yet in 2 Peter 1:20 it is implicitly declared that those Prophets all spoke by "the Holy Spirit" (see also 2 Sam. 23:2, 3, and compare Acts 1:16)! It was Jehovah whom Israel tempted in the wilderness, "sinning against God and provoking the Most High" (Ps. 78:17, 18), yet in Isaiah 63:10 this is specifically termed, "rebelling against and vexing the Holy Spirit"! In Deuteronomy 32:12 we read, "The Lord alone did lead them," yet speaking of the same people, at the same time, Isaiah 63:14 declares, "the Spirit of the Lord did lead them." It was Jehovah who bade Isaiah, "Go and tell this people, hear ye indeed" (6:8, 9), while the Apostle declared, "well spake the Holy Spirit by Isaiah the Prophet, saying, Go unto the people and say, Hear ye indeed..." (Acts 28:25, 26)! What could more plainly establish the identity of Jehovah and the Holy Spirit? Note that the Holy Spirit is called "the Lord" in 2 Thessalonians 3:5. Arthur W. Pink
