Year 3 Entry Point - Active Planet 액티브 플래닛

To kickstart their Active Planet IPC unit, Year 3 went back in time to AD79 to experience the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in Pompeii. They learnt all about the different parts of a volcano and why the eruption of Mt Vesuvius occurred.

Using plasticine and Lego blocks, they worked in teams, demonstrating cooperation and respect, to build Mt Vesuvius and the city of Pompeii around it. As they listened to the story of the eruption, they created the tremors, covered the town in an ash cloud, erupted the volcano using baking soda and vinegar, destroyed their city with a shower of volcanic bombs and finally buried Pompeii in a blanket of ash. They reflected on the thoughts and feelings of the residents of Pompeii and how they would feel if they were there at the time. The children were incredibly engaged and excited by the eruption reenactment.
