📖 Title: Prayer That Changes Crisis
Scripture: 2 Kings 20:1–7 Preacher : Youngnak Church of Hawaii , Rev. Chung Woong Kim
King Hezekiah was one of the most faithful kings of Judah.
He removed idols and led the people back to God.
Yet even he faced a deadly illness. Faithful people are not free from crisis.
Today’s passage shows how Hezekiah responded to his crisis through prayer
and how God answered him.
Through this story, we learn that crisis is not the end
but an invitation to seek God more deeply.
I. Crisis Is God’s Call to Draw Near
God sent Isaiah to tell Hezekiah that he would die.
This difficult message was not meant to destroy him but to bring him closer to God.
Other kings trusted in armies, politics, and wealth,
but Hezekiah turned to the Lord.
Crisis often becomes the moment when we learn to depend fully on God.
Where we turn in times of trouble reveals the direction of our faith.
II. Hezekiah Turned to God and Prayed with Tears
Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord.
He did not claim perfection but poured out his heart honestly.
The Bible says he wept bitterly.
Prayer is not about beautiful words but about sincere surrender.
When crisis comes, people look for solutions, but God looks for prayer.
Tears are not weakness but expressions of faith.
III. God Answered with a New Promise
Before Isaiah left the courtyard, God spoke again.
“I have heard your prayer and seen your tears.”
God healed Hezekiah and added fifteen years to his life.
He also promised to protect the country.
The sentence of death became a promise of life.
God is not changing randomly; He responds to sincere prayer.
Our lives today are signs of His grace.
Conclusion
Everyone faces crisis. T
he difference lies in where we turn.
Hezekiah’s prayer changed his future.
God still listens today.
In sickness, struggle, and fear, turn your face toward God.
Cry out to Him.
He will bring new promises and hope even in impossible situations.
