The 38th Method :
Praying to Heaven(Docheon)... Offering Prayers to God... Matter 44.
"Praying to Heaven"
(Docheon) means offering one′s earnest prayers and supplications to God.
Those who do not know how to pray, or those whho acknowledge how diffcult it is,
approach prayer with a sense of gravity and difficulty.
Conversely, those who claim it is easy offer their prayers lightly and easily.
those who truly understand the way of prayer know better,
they realize that because those who call it easy pray so lightly,
their sincerity fals to manifest or shine through.
On the other hand, those who undeerstand the true weight and difficulty
of prayer offer their supplications with deep reverence,
and therefore know that their prayers can truly reach and connect with God.
[Origlnal Text]
Those who pray to Heaven offer their prayers to the Divine Spirit of Hwaven.
Those who do not comprehend true prayer― meaning those who fibd it difficult
― pray with a sense of arduous difficulty.
while those who view it as easy with careless ease.
However, those who truly understand prayer know this is not the case.
Because those who view it as easy treat prayer lightly,
their sincerity fails to deeply penetrate even themselves.
(Note : '徹(철)' here ccarries the context of 'penetrating' or
'manifesting' thoroughly).
Because those who view it as difficult recognize the profound weight of prayer,
their genuine sincerity is fully capable of penetrating and reeaching Heaven.
[Commentary/ Explanation]
For a human to offer a prayer is a sacred act of seeking direct communion with God,
the Ruler of all creation in the universe.
Just as there is no act more profoundly valuable in a human life,
there is also nothing more difficult to truly achieve.
How, them, could anyone ever claim that this is an easy matter?
