Who tells truth? Yu-na or Orser
Still in the middle of the confrontation with her coach Brian Orser, Olympic goldmedalist figure skating star Kim Yu-na changed her mind. Instead of just observing, she began to stand up for her side.
In earlier Wednesday (Korean Standard Time), she posted a message on her Twitter, “Would you please stop telling a lie, B? I know exactly what's going on now and this is what I've DECIDED," and it’s assumed that “B” refers Brian.
Following this brief Twitter message, she left another long piece of defensive writing on her private mini-homepage on Wednesday around.
She opened her writing with a short greeting and right away moved on to her intention. “I decided to write this because I couldn’t stand the situation anymore,” she said.
In the writing, she questioned her coach’s real intention of using media to announce their separation and expressed her feeling as disappointed and distressed. She thought their parting should be rather private and continued to say she can’t understand why a player parting with a coach, which is possible and ordinary, should get much attention like this.
She also stressed that she was the one who made the final decision after going through several discussions with her mother and came to the conclusion. She also insinuated there were problems during the last four years with her coach by leaving such indirect message: “Is the proposal coach Orser was offered was the only matter? .........There would have been no other problems in the four years with him?” The proposal she means here is the one Orser was offered last April from Yu-na’ rival, Asada Mao of Japan, to coach her.
On the other hand, Orser said in a latest phone interview with a sports daily in Seoul that he once received a proposal from Asada, but he rejected it since his priority was put on Yu-na.
“I am NOT interested in Asada’s proposal, and there was no more contact with Asada since the rejection,” he strongly emphasized. He also added the separation has not come from money.
“I wasn’t an expensive coach for Yu-na. I didn’t train Yu-na because of money. Our bond was based on our trust for each other,” he was quoted as saying.
Yu-na strongly expressed her hope that the truth will be revealed so that those innocents no longer get blamed. “It’s sad that the thing that could have been wrapped up happily has ended up in a ugly way like this. I hope everything stops at this point.”
She emphasized she carefully came up with her final decision and didn’t do anything ill mannered to her coach. “Please trust me and forgive me for making you all worry.”
