The Pain of Separation and Oneness
Evangelist ・ February 7, 2026, 5:39 PM
Shalom! The Lunar New Year holiday in February 2026 is just around the corner, and the weather remains cold. The greatest pain facing our people today is the division of our nation. Geographically, the 38th parallel divided North and South Korea. The Korean War left millions of Koreans dead, along with Chinese, American, Russian, and South Korean soldiers. Travel between Koreas has been blocked for approximately 10 million people, and the 73-year division has left many separated, many dead, and few still alive, awaiting reunion. Many displaced people have lived near the North Korean border, longing for their parents and siblings, living lonely and miserable lives. Couples have separated, and now they are living with different people in both North and South Korea. This is undeniably the most painful wound in Korean history.
The clash between communism and capitalism, and between freedom and dictatorship, has unfolded on the Korean Peninsula, resulting in a national tragedy that continues to this day. The struggle for hegemony between the United States, Japan, China, and Russia has raged on the peninsula, and the small nation of Korea has become a battleground, a battlefield that continues to endure such immense hardship. The separation of brothers, sisters, parents, children, and spouses is undeniably the greatest suffering human beings can experience. Why? Because they are separated from loved ones and unable to reunite. While war and ideological conflicts can divide nations and separate entire peoples, in our daily lives, we experience pain and separation from loved ones in various ways. The most intense of these pains is the death of a child, followed by the bereavement of a spouse, and finally the death of a parent. While death is a natural consequence of old age, we sometimes choose to endure this profound suffering: divorce. When two people, a man and a woman, fall in love, marry, form a family, have children, and then divorce due to problems, the entire family experiences immense hardship and suffering. This is because love is accompanied by the pain of separation.
However, the pain of separation for all humanity arose because of sin. Through the sin of one man, Adam, all humanity became sinners, and their relationship with the holy God was severed. Therefore, humans now experience various sufferings throughout their lives: birth, death, illness, and more. The pain of death is so great that all humans strive to survive. Even in Korea, the most talented students become medical students and doctors. Nature, too, groans, having lost eternal life due to sin, just as humans do. Humans engage in intense conflict with one another, such as through war. All of this is a consequence of sin. All the problems that arise in human life arise from sinners, cut off from God, who do not love one another and who have lost the protection and comfort that comes from God. They fight against death, which they can never overcome, and fight for peace, which they can never achieve, between people and between nations. This world, where people who do not know love fight according to their own desires, is the world we live in, a world steeped in sin.
The one who came to solve all these problems is Jesus. He is the Son of God, the Prince of Peace and Savior. To save sinners, God sent His only begotten Son to this world out of His love for us. And He suffered the just punishment we deserve for our sins: the shedding of blood, suffering, and death on the cross. Jesus shed His blood and died in our place. Jesus, the Son of God, took the punishment for the sins of all humanity and died on the cross. Now, if all of us sinners accept this love and sacrifice of God, repent of our sins, and believe in Jesus, we will be forgiven, our relationship with God will be restored, and we will become His children and enjoy eternal life. And the Holy Spirit comes, regenerating us, and living as citizens of heaven, dwells within us, guiding us on the right path, and through us, He builds heaven on earth. Therefore, when God's people, forgiven and freed from sin, delight in His law and keep it under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, order will be established on earth, justice will flow, and joy will overflow. And because Jesus reconciles us, sinners, with the holy God, we are freed from the pain of separation caused by sin, receive God's protection and comfort to our hearts, hope for heaven, enjoy eternal life, and finally live peacefully and happily on earth. And by spreading the gospel, we lead people around the world to believe in Jesus and be saved. We establish churches, and within them, we live as brothers and sisters, praising God and worshiping Jesus, our King.
And Jesus now commands believers who have become brothers and sisters in Jesus to love one another fervently, spread the gospel, and, guided by the Holy Spirit, serve as light and salt in the world, illuminating and bringing justice to the darkened world. This is the life and purpose of the saved saints. That is, to seek God's righteousness and His kingdom. Our first priority in all things is to establish His kingdom on earth.
The kingdom of God has two major aspects: first, to spread the gospel and expand its borders; second, to love one another as one, transcending nationality, race, and ethnicity.
Christianity, unified as Catholicism for approximately 1,000 years, became a single church. However, issues surrounding the emergence of the Holy Spirit and the issue of icons led to the division into the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. Another 500 years later, Protestantism emerged with the Lutheran Reformation. Centered in the United States, it evangelized the world for approximately 500 years. Today, the three major churches are Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant, while Protestantism itself is divided into hundreds of denominations. Of the approximately 8 billion people on Earth, the number of believers in Jesus is approaching 2.5 billion.
While we can debate whether the division of a church is truly God's will or a consequence of human desire and sin, the primary cause is doctrinal differences in the interpretation of the same Bible. Diverging interpretations of the same Bible lead to different doctrines, and these diverging doctrines ultimately led to the division of the church. The separation of Catholicism and Protestantism stemmed from their differing understandings of how people become righteous through faith in Jesus. Consequently, they refused to acknowledge each other, accusing each other of fault, and established new churches. Furthermore, national and political interests intertwined, leading to the division of Catholicism and Protestantism. Seeking religious freedom, they migrated to America and Australia, separating from the Pope and establishing their own independent nations. This mirrors the situation faced by churches in the United States, Europe, and the world.
However, the church, as described in the Bible as the temple of God and the body of Jesus, signifies both the building itself and the gathered congregation. The relationship between the separation of the church and the body of Jesus must be determined. Did Jesus tear his own body to separate the church, or did humans tear the body of Jesus, whom they worship as their King, for their own selfish desires? This is a matter of serious theological debate. The problem is that just as the Trinity is one despite its distinct Persons, so too, believers, despite their different nationalities, races, and languages, must become one in the Lord. This is Jesus' command. Just as it is never God's will for humanity to be separated from Him due to sin, it is never God's will for the church, united as the body of Jesus, to be divided by doctrine, political circumstances, or national interests. It is God's will that we be one despite our different doctrines and denominations. This is because Jesus, who possesses a personality like ours and knows suffering, feels a pain greater than the pain humans feel when His body is torn apart by the division of the church. To those who wonder how this can be understood, I offer this explanation. I urge all believers to understand Jesus' pain as their own, participate in the unity of the church and its members, and pray and support this cause. This is not an individual matter, but truly God's work, and it is Jesus' earnest desire.
God chooses prophets to help us feel and express His heart toward humanity. These individuals, through the various tasks God commands, come to understand God's heart and share it with the world. Hosea, for example, confirms God's love for Israel and proclaims it by doing things he could never do himself. Jeremiah, with God's heart, weeps and shares with the fallen Israel, seeking to save his people from war. Habakkuk, like the righteous God, lived righteously in the southern kingdom of Judah, where injustice was rampant. He also witnessed the atrocities of Babylon and Assyria, who also plundered the world with injustice, and came to understand God's anger at injustice. He personally experienced that the sins of that time had become so rampant that these threatened to destroy Israel, the covenant nation, and he urged God to destroy his nation. Likewise, even in this age, God continues to speak His heart through His servants. Pastors and priests are God's servants and Jesus' servants, established to convey God's will to His people and to nurture and care for them.
As mentioned earlier, the two most important works God is doing in this age are expanding His kingdom through missions and evangelism. This expansion is achieved by sharing the gospel with non-believers through the church. With over 5 billion non-believers, this is paramount.
Another crucial task is the unification of the divided church. Approximately 2.5 billion believers are unable to unite due to differing churches and doctrines. They quarrel, attack one another, and sometimes even condemn and kill one another. This is the division of the body of Jesus, and the conflict within the body of Jesus must undoubtedly be a great pain to God in heaven. Therefore, we must overcome this and become one. The pain of our Lord Jesus is beyond words. We, who have been saved by His blood and have eternal life through His death, must absolutely not behave this way. We must quickly move toward the unity of the church. Please believe that the division, disrespect, and conflict in the church, which should glorify and praise Jesus, are solely the result of human desires and are absolutely not God's will. Jesus is deeply pained by the division of the church. Therefore, promoting division in the church and engaging in mutual accusations and attacks is absolutely not God's will, but the desires of certain groups and individuals. However, we must be firm and uncompromising in our opposition to heresy. Another crucial aspect we must understand in order to become one is unity through language. God, who confused languages and forbade communication at the Tower of Babel, has united us through our Lord Jesus and has united us through language: English. Now that God has enabled the entire world to communicate through English, within a few years, all people on Earth will be speaking English. This will happen because it is God's will.
I am a tool of Jesus, having received fire from Him. Why is this so? First, because I was chosen by God, repented of my sins, was baptized in Jesus' name, and received forgiveness for my past sins. As promised, I received the Holy Spirit as a gift from Jesus. I received this Holy Spirit through fire. And because when I first met God, knowing nothing about it, I prayed directly to Him to become His tool. As His tool, I share the message of unity. God is now resolving the doctrinal issues of Catholicism and Protestantism through me, through the Bible. First, I personally experienced the suffering of Jesus during the division of the church.
In 1994, I was a member of Jamsil Church in Garak-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul. At the time, I married Maria Park Young-hee, a Catholic, at Munjeongdo Church in Songpa-gu, with Father Kim Chung-soo officiating the wedding. All my family and friends from the countryside came to the church to celebrate our marriage. My wife and I sometimes argued over different churches, but we alternated between them to find understanding. I also read her lay theology book and attended lectures on Romans at church. I personally read theology books about the church, attended lectures on Romans, and, above all, my wife was kind to me. But then she suddenly left home, and I was divorced. She demanded a divorce, something I didn't want. I lost my mind, stripped naked, wandered the streets, and began behaving strangely. I was forcibly committed to a homeless shelter in Nokbeon, where I spent a month. While working as a deacon at Jamsil Church, I experienced four years of hell, filled with depression and insomnia. I saw my palm-sized heart, ripped apart, leaving only a small opening. I saw this as the suffering of Jesus when the church was divided. I can't even begin to describe how much my heart ached. When the pain became unbearable, I looked at the cross in the sanctuary, Jesus being nailed to the cross, his body slumped under his weight, and the nails pierced his hands and feet, causing him such excruciating pain. Seeing this made my own pain lessen, and my pain vanished. The four years of sleepless nights caused by the divorce were an excruciating pain I never wanted to experience again. Every night, I go to bed, thinking I'll sleep, but I can't. And a new day arrives. The sleeping pills prescribed at the police hospital don't work, and the herbal medicine from the herbal medicine shop doesn't work either. And even with both, I can't fall asleep. As time passes, I realize that staying awake at night is now normal, not sleeping at night. And a sense of resignation about life sets in. Ah! This is how I must live. When everyone gathered together to cheer for the World Cup, I would sit in my seat every Monday, not eating, not moving, until the next day. And after taking the medicine, I was ashen by day. After enduring this pain for four years, I experienced the pain felt when Jesus' church was divided. Loneliness pierced my bones, and I couldn't sleep. I'm talking about the pain and suffering I experienced when my Catholic wife left me. I loved her, but she disappeared without a word, demanding a divorce. I divorced her, and this hell awaited me for four years.
And Jesus descended again into the air, looking at the earth, wondering whom he could bless. So I immediately prayed for a woman, and missionary Kim Seong-nam, sent from Jamsil Church, introduced me to my wife.
And then, in 2004, I married my Russian Orthodox wife. It's been 22 years since we had a son and stopped taking medication for depression and insomnia for 21 years. In 2011, I was ordained as a pastor by an independent denomination. Since 2017, I've been running 50 Million Romans on Daum Cafe and Naver Blog, sharing my understanding of the Bible and summarizing it. This has been viewed by approximately 500,000 people in 120 countries. I've shared this entire process and information with the world, without any additions or subtractions, in approximately 1,200 articles. Anyone can see and confirm this. I've shared it in Korean and English with 700 professors from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Oxford, Game Bridge Theological Seminary, theological schools in Australia and Canada, and approximately 11 major theological schools in Korea, so it's spread to the entire world.
First of all, the approximately 1,200 articles I've written are long, ranging from as many as 200 pages on A4 paper to as short as several dozen pages. I wrote these articles over the course of about eight years, so I wrote one article every two days without stopping. If I were to publish them as a book, it would be over 100 volumes, each 300 pages long. What ability do I have to accomplish this? I believe it's the work of Almighty God. And I didn't do this for fun. From 2015 to last year, I served as a full-time SG for a US military base. When I wasn't on duty, I worked as a cleaning supervisor or a scrap collector, driving a truck. I also farmed 600 pyeong (approximately 1,800 square meters) of fields and rice paddies in Hanam, 50 pyeong (approximately 150 square meters) in Gunsan, 1,000 pyeong (approximately 3,300 square meters) in Mungyeong, and 600 pyeong (approximately 1,800 square meters) in Dangjin, all by car. While doing this work, I also wrote like this. Most of the writing would take two to four hours to complete, once I sat down at my desk with the computer turned on. Some writing would take two to three days, depending on work, farming, and rest. One day, while I was writing a letter to my neighbors, Jesus came to me. He seemed to say, "Go away. I'll write it." He wrote, but I couldn't tell if it was me or Jesus. These 1,200 articles were written in a flash. While the content was fine, there were some shortcomings in spelling and grammar, which were entirely my own fault. And despite my shortcomings, I strived to live diligently as a husband and father, and because I earned my own living, I could confidently approach anyone. But what ability do I have to convey God's will in this way?
Forty years ago, I was a devout Buddhist, ignorant of Jesus, the Bible, the church, or God. But when God allowed me to read the Bible given to me by Elder Kim Seong-su, I became a completely different person. I was so confident in myself that I never read the Bible or went to church. Born in Noryang, a small town in the South Sea, I excelled academically, became a banker, served as a KATUSA soldier, and after my military service, studied for the civil service exam on a scholarship at university.
Just as Paul, seeking to live by the law he believed in, imprisoned those who believed in Jesus, I too was someone who asked, "Why believe in Jesus? Believe in me!" But when God came, I was shocked and terrified, my head spinning. At a loss, I saw the Bible Elder Kim Seong-su had given me, and I felt I needed to read it to live. So, I opened the Bible and immediately found 1 Corinthians 13, and the words began to come into view. But they weren't just words. They were like a mirror reflecting my own heart. Instead of the good I'd always thought of, I saw a completely corrupted, wicked heart. And tears welled up in my eyes, and I fell to my knees, praying, "Please use me as your instrument."
And I knew so strongly that I was wrong and that 1 Corinthians 13 was true, that I could never live with the mindset and actions I had in the past. From then on, I devoted all my heart, strength, and soul to loving as 1 Corinthians 13 says. This is how I repented. Five years later, on May 19, 1991, I was baptized in the name of Jesus at Banseok Church in Jangyu, Gimhae, and became a member. The following year, I passed the first round of the civil service examination and attended Sunmin Church in Sillim-dong, Seoul, to prepare for the second round. In early spring, during a service, Pastor Park Ki-soo, who had served as the General Assembly President, was giving a sermon, and Jesus appeared in black and white, filling the sanctuary. He then breathed a red fire into my heart. Two or three small flames, like candles, were burning in my chest, my palms sweating, and I came to believe that if someone was sick, if I touched them and they believed in Jesus, they would be healed. I felt like I was in heaven for three days. The deacon said, "You've met God," and various miracles, including healings, occurred.
After failing the civil service exam by one point, I became a pastor, preached, read and organized the Bible, got married twice, and worked diligently. Meanwhile, I also preached the gospel to the world through "50 Million Romans." God gave me a new understanding of justification by faith in Romans, truly teaching me step-by-step, step-by-step, over the years. I uploaded all of this content to "50 Million Romans" and sent it to a professor at a theological seminary. Now, I will present it below. It is about uniting the church, divided by doctrine, through doctrine, and uniting it in English.
First, let's talk about doctrine. The doctrine of justification by faith is naturally found in Romans, so a precise understanding of Romans is crucial for uniting the divided churches. When Protestants, looking at Romans 1:17, argued that Luther was justified by faith, Catholics argued that faith plus works was necessary. They also rejected Protestant doctrine. They also rejected Protestantism, opposing it for 500 years. At times, they attempted to unite, but their arguments continued unabated. I believe that Catholics now view Protestantism as estranged brothers.
However, the new understanding of Romans that God is giving me is that it must be viewed both vertically and horizontally. I call this a connected understanding, understanding chapters 1 through 16 in a connected way. Furthermore, it must be understood in conjunction with Genesis, Habakkuk, and James, which are related to Romans, and this is called a relational understanding. In other words, if you approach Romans solely based on doctrine, you will never grasp the Apostle Paul's original intent. I believe that the method I'm proposing will not only uncover a path toward unity between Catholicism and Protestantism, but also lead to a more accurate and enriched understanding of Romans.
Therefore, a vertical, vertical, and interconnected understanding must occur simultaneously with a horizontal, relational understanding. This is why all theologians, pastors, and priests who haven't read Romans have failed to properly understand it and have lived for 500 years simply following doctrine.
The righteous one will live by faith in Romans 1:17 are directly related to Abraham and Habakkuk. Romans 1:17 requires a relational understanding, and this focus lies in these two key figures. The Apostle Paul quotes their faith, their experiences, their actions, and their records directly, using them as examples to explain justification by faith. One of these figures is a man of faith and the other a righteous prophet.
First, we must confirm Abraham's life journey through Genesis, Romans, and James. This is a relational understanding. As we all know, Abraham left Ur of the Chaldeans at God's command, leaving his country, his relatives, and his father's house. The account is verifiable in Genesis. Abraham was 75 years old at this time.
Gen 12:1 The LORD had said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people, and your father's household to the land I will show you.
2 "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
4 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran.
And in Genesis 15, God appears again. For the first time, Abraham is justified because he believed.
Genesis 15 [NIV]
The Lord's Covenant With Abram
1 After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
2 But Abram said, “Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”
3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant to my household will be my heir.”
4 Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.”
5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
This is the first time he was justified. This is recorded in Romans 4:1-16. This happened before Abraham was 86 years old, when he gave birth to Ishmael. So, it happened between the ages of 75 and 85. Now, let's look at the passage cited in Romans. It's also mentioned in Romans 5. In this way, we must view Romans vertically and horizontally with other Scriptures.
Romans 4 [NIV]
Abraham Justified by Faith
1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, was discovered in this matter?
2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God.
3 What does Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."
And in Romans 5, it says justification by faith.
Romans 5 [NIV]
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Up to this point, the Bible clearly states that believers are justified by faith. Protestants, seeing this far, claim that justification is by faith. The Bible proves this clearly.
However, the problem doesn't end here. Abraham is still alive and well, and God continues to visit him, confirming his faith. This is the reality of faith we all experience. In the New Testament era, Jesus is always with us, and the Holy Spirit dwells within us. This clearly demonstrates that faith is not a one-time thing. The Bible speaks this to all people on earth. If we remain here, it will be insufficient.
First, we confirm this in Genesis. God visits Abraham again when he is 99 or 100 years old. And He sees Abraham.
Genesis 17 [NIV]
The Covenant of Circumcision
1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.”
2 Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.”
3 Abram fell face down, and God said to him,
4 “As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations.
5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.
6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.
7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.
8 The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.”
9 Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.”
10 This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
11 You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you.
12 For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring.
13 Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant.
14 Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”
15 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.”
16 I will bless her and will surely give you my son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; “Kings of peoples will come from her.”
17 Abraham fell face down; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?”
18 And Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!”
19 Then God said, “Yes, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.”
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation.
21 But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.”
22 When he finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.
18:10 Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.
11 Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.
12 So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, "After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?"
This is clearly Abraham and Sarah's response to God's word. Abraham is 99 and Sarah is 89.
However, Romans expresses this as follows:
Romans 4:17 As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.
18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah's womb was also dead.
20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
21 Being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
22 This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”
Romans and Genesis express the same event in this way. Instead of expressing it as coolly as Romans, it records that the couple both laughed together. How should we interpret this? The bottom line is that Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah exactly one year later, at the exact time God had spoken. This stemmed from Abraham's faith and actions, thanks to the help of Almighty God. In other words, Abraham's aged body, with God's help, was able to have sexual intercourse without difficulty, and Sarah's womb opened to bear a son. This was all possible thanks to Abraham's unwavering faith. The key to unlocking this mystery is the phrase "this time next year." God gave them one year, and the elderly couple overcame this time with faith. In other words, they believed in God's promise and acted appropriately to conceive a son. In other words, although the couple were old, when they spent the night in obedience to God's promise, God, with His almighty power, restored both male and female functions. Thus, Abraham's seed was precisely established in Sarah, and Isaac was born. This is precisely explained in Romans 4:17-22. By dividing Romans 4 into verses 1-16 and verses 17-22, we can understand the biblical content of justification through proper faith. This is the amazing grace of God. It is not human effort or research.
God, who gave me this understanding, has also provided me with wonderful illustrations and text. He wants all people in the world and His people to understand this. This miracle exists for all who believe in God and act on it.
This is a blessing enjoyed by those who believe in God and act on it, and I believe all believers will experience it. However, there is work to be done, and we must do what we must. This is a crucial point. If the couple believed and simply remained silent, believing that God would give it to them, how could Sarah receive Abraham's seed? If it were simply God's power, it could have been a virgin birth, not Abraham's seed. Did the couple simply believe and remain silent? Did they sleep together in faith? Abraham lived to be 175 years old. And 14 years earlier, he fathered Hagar and Ishmael. God could raise a man much more easily than a modern doctor could cure erectile dysfunction.
This is my belief, and I acknowledge the potential for controversy. Nowadays, humans can pierce a woman's abdomen and directly inject sperm into her uterus, or even conceive through artificial insemination. Pregnancy can occur without a man and a woman having sex. Since God created woman from Adam's bone, God could have brought about Isaac in ways unimaginable to humans. Yet, Romans tells us that Abraham had firm faith, and God gave Abraham and Sarah approximately two to three months to conceive. If Isaac had been born without Abraham sleeping with his wife, Abraham would first suspect her and then investigate with the young men around him. It would have been a complete mess. And how could Abraham have faith in Isaac? The only way to firmly believe in him as his own seed was through normal sexual relations between himself and his wife. I believe that the Almighty permitted this, and seeing their unwavering faith, He restored their bodies to bear children.
Throughout the Bible, Adam and Eve were created directly by God, and God is their Father. And Jesus comes as a virgin. All other people are born from the bed of a man and a woman. I believe this is the truth. And Sarah's joy can be expressed not only in the joy of giving birth to a child, but also in the joy of spending the night with her husband. I believe that everything went smoothly in response to the firm faith of Abraham and his wife in Almighty God. Later, Sarah died at the age of 127, and Abraham remarried Keturah and had children. Abraham was the one who wondered how he could have children at such an old age. Yet, his body was transformed, enabling him to remarry and bear children even at an older age. I believe this was because of his firm faith, strengthened by the power given by God.
Now, we need to go further. This is because Abraham's journey of faith continues. Now, we must look at James and then Genesis. We must understand Romans 1:17 by reading Genesis 22 and James 2 simultaneously. First, let's look at Genesis.
Genesis 22 [NIV]
Abraham Tested
1 Some time later, God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied.
2 Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain, and I will show you."
3 Early the next morning, Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.
9 When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on top of the wood.
10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
11 But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied.
12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
Now, when Isaac had become a boy and a young man, God came again. And again He tested Abraham’s faith. This time, He told Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering. He prepared firewood and went to do so. He obeyed God’s command and also had strong faith. Abraham believed that even if he offered Isaac as a burnt offering, God would somehow make his descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the earth. He also believed that God would surely provide for him through Isaac. Humanly speaking, such a thing would be impossible, but he put aside his own thoughts and trusted and obeyed God. This was said to be when Abraham was between 118 and 125 years old. He was called at 75 and died at 175, meaning he lived a life of faith for 100 years. God came and tested Abraham repeatedly throughout his journey of faith. The Epistle of James explains this as follows. To understand this, you must read the Epistle of James.
James 2:21: Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22: You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled, saying, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend.
24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do, not by faith alone.
Abraham was justified by faith and works, so the Catholic Church's claim is perfectly correct. Now we can see that both Catholicism and Protestantism are claiming to be righteous based on Abraham's initial and final faith, despite his 100-year journey of faith. Luther was too hasty, and the Catholic Church was too slow to respond calmly to the Protestant aggression. Now, the faith of Abraham, now 100 years old, will connect these two churches. Now, if you look at the Bible like this and Romans 1:17, you will see how accurately God explained justification by faith through the Apostle Paul. However, if you look at the Korean translation of Romans 1:17, it is absolutely impossible to reach this profound and correct content. Everyone! On the path to biblical truth, we must examine both the English translation and the Greek and Hebrew translations. Now, with this correct understanding of Abraham's faith, we turn to Romans 1:17.
This is a translation of the Korean Bible.
Romans 1:17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
Romans 1:17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
Romans 1:17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from beginning to end. / And that faith is a faith that believes well from beginning to end. / As it is written: "The righteous are those who have faith and live their lives day by day."
Now, with all the knowledge we have learned so far, let us meditate on faith from beginning to end. Let us consider Abraham's three tests and his faith. This passage perfectly describes Abraham's lifelong faith. First, this is what faith should be like. I and you can all clearly see that God tests us in this way. The Almighty knows. And if you fail, what happens to the righteousness you've believed in? You must repent. You can never be considered righteous while still carrying on your sins. The righteous God will never justify the unrighteous. This is abundantly clear in Ezekiel 18.
Ezekiel 18:24 "And if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity and does all the abominations that the wicked do, will he live? None of the righteous things he has done will be remembered; in his trespasses and in his sins he has committed, he will die.
Therefore, we must have a faith that believes from beginning to end. And here's the next part. The English is as I translated it. Abraham believed in God and lived each day. What kind of life was worthy of that faith? First, he left his native land and his relatives and his father's house. Second, he believed that God would give him children even in his old age and maintained his marital relationship with faith. Third, he obeyed the command to sacrifice his son and offered him up. He believed and sacrificed. His daily life must be connected with this faith without rest. A person who lives this way is considered righteous. Of course, as Protestants claim, believing makes one righteous. However, as time passes, when the time comes to believe and act, we must act. And when we believe and are called to offer our son, we must offer him. Only then will our justification continue. This is the truth. This is the complete content of Romans 1:17. I believe no one on earth will find this explanation strange.
We have some difficulties understanding the content of Genesis and the content of Romans, written later by Paul. Genesis details a century of faith, while Romans records the period around age 75-85 and 99-100. Romans provides a general assessment, while Genesis provides a detailed account. Paul also constantly spoke of the struggle of faith, the struggle between the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the flesh, and the difference between where he wants to go and where the Holy Spirit wants him to go. Every day, we live a life of faith like this. Sometimes, like Abraham, we respond to God's word with a smile, but this soon changes into an attitude of obedience. All humans have shortcomings in every way, but God, who is generous, loving, and patient, gives us victory in our lives. We live by the Lord's mercy, not because we are good. We must also help, encourage, and build up our brothers and sisters who are weak in faith. A pastor's patience should be endless, and I believe all pastors are truly devoted and faithful. Hallelujah! Truly, the grace of God is immeasurable.
God has given me the wisdom to create the diagram above. He has also revealed to the world the way to resolve Korea's current problems, America's problems, and Europe's problems. He has revealed the only sure way to resolve the problems of the current capitalist era and to prevent the spread and attack of communism, through the faith of Abraham and the Old and New Testaments. This is the word of the century, ushering in the new millennium. I firmly believe that countless people who believe in this truth will act, experience peace, please God, and bring great hope to the entire world. Please do not take this as my own words, but rather, I earnestly pray that you will receive this message from God to those who have lived a life of faith.
This message applies to everyone between the ages of 60 and 90. Many will end their lives with grace. There are truly many people around the world who believe in God, live a life of faith, and live like Abraham. They are truly wonderful people, the light and salt of the world and the pillars of the church. Even though you began your faith and faced difficult moments and sometimes wavered in your faith, God, who loved Abraham and bestowed grace upon him, also loved and bestowed grace upon you. Therefore, you followed Abraham's faith, remained faithful to the church, lived a good life in the world, and served God faithfully with your family. God has blessed you abundantly in every way, allowing you to live abundant lives. You have achieved worldly success and honor, and you have served faithfully as elders, deacons, and evangelists in the church.
Abraham, our ancestor of faith, obeyed God's call at the age of 75, leaving his homeland, relatives, and father's house. He believed in God's promise, and thus was declared righteous. Romans 4:1-16 and Genesis 15:6 both explain this. Protestants also offer accurate explanations based on this passage. Time passed, and Abraham lived faithfully in God for about 15 years. God again saw Abraham's faith. He reaffirmed his promise regarding his son, and Abraham believed firmly, circumcising all his family members and working with his wife to have a son. It's done by faith. God, seeing Abraham's faith, filled him with strength and opened Sarah's womb (to bear a child). Youth came to the couple, who had thought they were old. And through them, they gave birth to a son. If we, all believers, believe this way, miracles will come in all things. Our Lord Jesus also said that even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.
You have all come this far with that faith. I believe so. We obeyed the command to leave and firmly believed in the command to believe. We believed in Jesus, shed our old lives, that is, we left, constantly meditated on the Word, were faithful in the church, and lived good lives in the world. This was the result of a life born of faith. Now, Abraham awaits the final test of his faith. God is always with those He loves. Being omnipotent, He knows Abraham's condition precisely from heaven. And now He is told to sacrifice his son. He obeys the command immediately. He is fully prepared to sacrifice his son. So, what happens to the promise of a nation and a people through Isaac? Offering Isaac as a burnt offering, even if he were reduced to ashes, was a sacrifice of a son, believing that Almighty God would surely fulfill His promise through Isaac. It also represents reverence for God. And seeing Abraham's faith, God fulfilled all His promises. Now, 4,000 years later, Abraham's descendants are as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sands of the rivers. He is the father of faith, a source of blessing, and many nations have sprung from him. We, too, have become his descendants through Jesus. You, the descendants of Abraham, may be Koreans. But because we believe in Jesus, we are undoubtedly his descendants through faith.
Like Abraham, we are constantly being checked by our Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Why? The Holy Spirit is with us and knows everything about us. He knows where we sit, how many hairs we have, what we are thinking, and even our faith. Now, those of you in your late 60s or 90s, as you enter the final stages of your faith, you must receive the commands God commands you to follow. What command do you think God would give us? To sacrifice our grown sons in fire? Absolutely not. Why? Because our Lord Jesus offered His own body as a blood sacrifice, so we don't need to do that. No one needs to do that. So what is our final test? I believe it's the rich young ruler's request to sell all his possessions, give to the poor, and then see the Lord. Why do I believe this and call it God's command? Because there's clear evidence. This is the command God gave to Timothy through Paul. Every pastor is a Timothy. And I, too, am a pastor, so it's only natural that I give this command. It's a command God has given to all pastors in the world. It's not a command that can be done or not done, but a command that must be fulfilled.
1 Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
19 In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may hold the life that is truly life.
If wealthy Christians around the world obey this command of God and share their wealth with the poor, they will overcome communism. The greatest evil of capitalism is the concentration of wealth. The state can never fix this, and even non-believers donate and share, but only those who believe in Jesus can fix this. When they share their wealth, the poor will find hope, and the global rise of communism will be stopped and the tyranny of dictatorships will be stopped. Korea's problems also stem from the concentration of wealth. There is no government or government officials to fix this; only believers must correct it through sharing. We have now reached the point where we must heed God's command to offer.
Abraham is not someone God chose for us believers to simply observe. He set an example for us to live in the exact same way. Abraham began his faith late in life, at the age of 75. Twenty years later, despite his advanced age, he had the faith to bear a son. About another twenty years later, he acted with the same faith to offer his son. We too must believe in the resurrection, just as Abraham did. When we die, we become dust, and everything disappears. Just as Abraham's son Isaac was burned as a burnt offering and turned to ashes. Now, in this state, we must believe in the resurrection. We need the same intensity of faith as Abraham. Now, looking to Abraham, we must trust in the God who is so faithful. God has kept His promise to Abraham perfectly for 4,000 years. He fulfilled His promise to Abraham, and He will fulfill it to us 100% according to our faith. We must first believe in the resurrection. And our final test of faith! We must take the command to give seriously. And we must firmly believe in God's promise to those who share in this way. The expression "gaining true life for the future" is a promise of the life and rewards we will enjoy in heaven. God's promise to those who share is 100% certain that this will happen.
And we can share with love for our neighbors. Today, in Korea, the United States, and Europe, there are so many people who cannot live due to the serious evils of capitalism. In Korea, 70% of the population does not own a single pyeong of land, and 50% are homeless. Approximately 30 million people live without hope. Forty people commit suicide every day. Unmarried people seek to live alone, and after living alone, they end up in nursing homes. We live in a world that can only be described as hell. This world is the result of an excessive obsession with wealth, its accumulation, and its concentration. The state has no power to stop this. This is a characteristic of freedom and capitalism. This is absolutely not the kingdom of God that God desires. In this sad and painful world, the Lord suffers with these people. Therefore, it is natural to share. All Korean pastors should be preaching and teaching this. However, if these pastors take the lead and excessively possess wealth, using the offerings of their congregations to God, and claim to receive blessings like me, what kind of world will we live in? They will create hell. This is truly becoming not a servant of Jesus, but an enemy. Consequently, it will be extremely difficult for all wealthy Christians, living without a sense of guilt, to enter heaven as rich young adults.
Please do not allow your life's journey of faith to be ruined by the obsession with material possessions at the end of your life. Spending two million won a month on a small house is enough. Anything above that should be shared. If you give to your children, they will become lazy, relying on wealth, and turning away from God. The wealth will lure countless evil swindlers. If you educate them to rely on God and love their neighbors, and if fathers set an example, God will protect their children as well. Please believe that inaction in this hopeless situation, where injustice is so severe it threatens the nation, is absolutely not a life of faith. If you hypocritically respond to and disobey the command to receive and share everything from God, you are like the rich young man, abandoning faith and love, clinging to only wealth, and ending your entire life in vain. Faith must be consistent from beginning to end, unchanging, and rather, it must grow stronger over time. You may not be able to believe and grow stronger for another 40 or 50 years, but if you hold onto all the material God has given you with both hands and ignore your dying neighbors and His commands, that material wealth will drag all the rich believers, pastors, and elders, to hell. It will not be material that saves you, but material that leads you to hell. Please do not take it as my words, but as God's stern warning.
And there is another hurdle to overcome. This is from Habakkuk 2:4. Let's look at it.
Includes two Korean versions
Hab 2:4. "Behold, his soul is proud; it is not upright in him; but the righteous shall live by his faith."
4. "Do not act rashly. I do not approve of such a person." But the righteous will live by his faithfulness."
4. See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright—but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness—
Habakkuk sees the injustice in his homeland of Judah and asks, "Why does the righteous God just stand by and watch?" Why? Habakkuk is a prophet of a righteous God. He is definitely not someone who lives in injustice. He is definitely not someone who takes wealth and power through injustice and who callously declares that things should be the way they are when the poor and needy die. He fights against injustice, resists, and hates it so much that he lives righteously. But the world has become so corrupt that even living like that has become so difficult, and he complains like this. In response to Habakkuk's plea, God declares that He will destroy His chosen nation of Judah, which has fallen, through the even more unrighteous power of Babylon. Habakkuk then asks again, "How can a holy God use an unrighteous power?" and God's answer is the verse above. It is not Habakkuk's words, but This is the Word of God. And the Apostle Paul quoted this passage precisely as Romans 1:17. Now, let's look at how to live by faith.
First, Habakkuk believes in God. The God he sees here is a God who eradicates all unrighteous forces. He believes that God will destroy his own people, the Southern Kingdom of Judah, and Babylon as well. He also believes that God will judge all the unrighteous, preserve the righteous, and raise them up, bringing about a better world. With this faith, he lives in this unjust and hopeless world. How does he live? He lives justly. Habakkuk believes in this God. Based on this faith, he lives justly each day, a life so difficult to endure. Therefore, even in the midst of war, with his nation falling and Babylon falling, he rejoices in God despite the uncertainty. It's like Abraham offering Isaac as a burnt offering, only to find that the almighty God will fulfill His promise through Isaac. It's like Abraham believing that, no matter what, through Isaac, He will give descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as numerous as the sands of the rivers. Even when all hope is shattered, Habakkuk rejoices in God alone. Seeing Habakkuk's faith, God said that the righteous live their lives by faith every day. It is true that Israel and the Southern Kingdom will fall. However, those who live righteously are filled with hope even in these tribulations and wars, because injustice will end and justice will be established. Perhaps the true kingdom of God is one where those who believe, act, and live righteously become its citizens.
Then Nebuchadnezzar invaded, killed the high officials, the king's son, and the unrighteous, and put the homeless and landless poor in charge of all the land. Now, there is no nation, but the wicked are all killed and captured, and those left behind take possession of their homes and lands. We must remember this. Even in ruins, the unrighteous perish, while the righteous are always protected by God, and even in times of persecution and oppression, their rewards in heaven are greatly enhanced. Daniel and his friends, despite having no nation and their people perishing, enjoy wealth and honor in foreign lands through God's grace. The righteous always have God's protection and comfort. Abraham and Habakkuk were people who believed and were declared righteous.
It is more important for us to live like them. What's the point of arguing for 500 years and trying to discern who is right? Both sides have been arguing for 500 years while knowing only part of the truth. Now is the time to end this strife. We must believe in Jesus from beginning to end, and live each day with faith worthy of that faith. Our journey of faith, like Abraham's, must continue on a path of daily growth. And in this world rife with injustice, we must, like Habakkuk, firmly believe in God, who will eradicate this unjust world, and live steadfastly, not relying on or flattering unjust forces and power. This is the path of the righteous. It is a life of faith, and that faith is faith from beginning to end. This is true justification by faith. May you discern the difference between faith alone and faith plus works, and may you believe and triumph in this way. I bless you in the name of Jesus.
However, in reality, there are various stages of believers and faith. Some have accepted Christ today, while others have believed for decades. And others are nearing the end of their journey of faith. It would be nice if our faith were solid from the start, but that's difficult. I, too, became more interested in reading the Bible because I wanted to become a pastor. But that wasn't the case from the beginning. When I was studying for the civil service exam, I devoted 13 hours a day to studying only the civil service exam subjects. I didn't study the Bible thoroughly. While I was good at worship and giving offerings, my service, including everything else, was lacking. And what I know and what I believe are two different things. We must ensure that what we know and what we believe are aligned.
Abraham first obeyed the command to leave. At his wife's urging, he married Hagar and gave birth to Ishmael. This was about 10-11 years after his first encounter with God. The next stage of faith is the strengthening of faith. This period marks about 25 years after his first encounter with God. And another 20 years later, he offered his son. Abraham, our father of faith, faithfully obeyed the command to leave, believe, and offer.
In the end, even though Isaac offered a burnt offering, he believed in God's omnipotence and kept His promises, offering his son. Even if his son was burned to ashes, he believed that God would prosper through Isaac, his nation, and his descendants. He trusted in God, not in reality or human reasoning, but in God. This faith is necessary for all of us. Even if we die and become dust, just as Jesus was resurrected, we too will be resurrected physically and live forever in the new heaven and new earth, without aging or illness, with our beloved Lord, beloved saints, and family.
Several years ago, God prompted me to write a booklet on the resurrection. It was translated into five languages and featured in "Romans 50 Million." The resurrection of plants proved biblically that if one believes in Jesus, they will not die but will undoubtedly be resurrected. Abraham's faith in his final days must naturally connect to our faith in the resurrection. Just as Abraham believed in something unseen and seemingly impossible, we too must believe in our own resurrection. I must publish this book and share Jesus' message with the whole world. I ask for your prayers and support. Some are in the early stages of faith, some in the middle stages, and some in the final stages. All believers in Korea, at the end of their faith, must obey the command to offer. A tremendous blessing has come to Korea, and many believers are wealthy. We are not commanded to offer up sons. We are commanded to offer up material possessions, not sons or daughters, for the sake of our neighbors who are much more difficult, those who have no homes or land, and the approximately 30 million people who do not have a home or land. Every believer in Korea, the United States, and Europe, in their 70s and 80s, has received this command from God. And truly, amazing things await those who do this in heaven.
The path of unity has been proclaimed to all the world. Please stop living your lives following doctrines that are only 30% or 60% accurate. We must move beyond the path we have believed to be righteous and move toward a more complete path of faith. Now, that path has been clearly presented to all believers. The Bible has been this way from the beginning. Many of you have already lived this way. Now, with a more complete understanding, we must stop criticizing Catholicism and Protestantism, respect each other, and become one through this correct understanding. Only then will the pain of Jesus' separation disappear. Please believe me. My broken heart was healed when I met a new person and saw my son. The Lord healed me in this way. Living with my wife and son, the pain is a thing of the past. Now, we must heal the Lord's pain. Please believe me. The way to do this lies in a correct understanding of Romans. I told you that we must understand Romans vertically, in its connection to other scriptures, and horizontally, in its relationship to them. Now, Romans 1:17 is finally understood. Only by examining how this verse connects vertically and horizontally can we truly understand Romans. However, we still have a long way to go in terms of freedom from the law, the establishment of God's kingdom, and the fulfillment of the law.
Those who have come this far must find strength and move toward a deeper understanding. I see this understanding as the light that will rekindle the church around the world. We must see that light together. This light spreads from Korea in the East to the church around the world. The gospel of peace is spreading throughout the world. Now, Catholic and Protestant believers, divided by doctrine, must unite and walk together. For what purpose must we move forward together? The purpose is to establish the kingdom of God.
The method of establishing that kingdom is linked to Romans 1:17. Chapters 1-3 introduce salvation through Jesus as a sinner and that salvation comes through faith. Chapters 4 and 5 explain what faith should be. Chapter 6 explains our death through baptism in Jesus' name and the freedom from sin that comes through faith in this. We must believe that by being baptized with Jesus, we died together with him, crucified together. Just as Abraham, even at the age of 99, was rejuvenated by his faith that God would give him a child, we too must believe in God's words of baptism and death on the cross, even though we may be physically alive in this world. Now, we must believe in the life of faith in Jesus. This is the principle of faith we must believe. Even if what we see differs from the Bible, we must believe in the Word. Our ancestor Abraham believed in this way. We must follow this faith. I too am the same. How can someone who has believed for only 40 years truly understand and believe? In my case, Abraham's example is the step of believing!
Romans 7 contains the answer to Romans 1:17. Living by faith day by day is so vague. Romans 7 solves this problem. And Romans 7:6 provides the precise answer. Israel believed the Old Testament, the Law, and God. However, they failed to obey God's Word, and perished after approximately 1,000 years. God knows our weaknesses well and plans a new salvation. This plan of salvation is found in Ezekiel 36:24-28. Ezekiel 36:24 “For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.
25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
28 Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.”
The 1,000-year rule of Israel through the law ended in 586 B.C. with the destruction of the southern kingdom of Judah. Now the triune God plans salvation for a new humanity. That plan is the Word above. Even if heaven and earth come to an end, God’s rule of law will never be abandoned. The law is the means by which God establishes His kingdom. Since law is the foundation, a nation can never stand without it. Those who truly love God rejoice deeply in God's rule according to His law. They respect, love, and praise His law, meditating on it day and night.
However, all believers, regardless of whether they are pastors, elders, or deaconesses, who ignore the law and live as they please are reckless people who absolutely do not love God. Why is this so? Because they ignore the law God gave to govern the world, live as they please, and live bound by worldly laws. Especially when a pastor pioneers a church and the church grows into a megachurch, the pastor's influence is truly immense. They manage finances, appoint people, and even give up church property almost without regard for the law. They continue this way until their death. Most people who live like this will never enter heaven. Why is this? Because they hate strict law and live according to their own will, building their own kingdom. Therefore, they never preach or teach about the importance of law throughout their lives, emphasizing only faith. I urge you not to stake your life on such reckless people. Our Lord Jesus clearly explained this. We must hear countless sermons based on the Gospel of Matthew from every pastor during worship. But no one preaches using these words.
The Fulfillment of the Law
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
The new Triune God's plan of salvation and Jesus' command are in perfect harmony. There is not a single error. Jesus said he came to fulfill the law, and that faithful observance of the law determines who is great and small in heaven. He said that those who do not keep the law better than the Jews today and live according to their own will will never enter heaven. Talk about faith and such things are meaningless in the face of these words. The more we believe in Jesus, the more we must diligently keep Jesus' words. Heaven is the most orderly place in the universe. This order is established by the perfect rule of law. He said that the will of heaven is done on earth as well. We can understand the will of heaven by observing God's will being done on earth. If this law were not present in this world, everyone would claim to be God according to their own standards, deceiving others. The kingdom of God, with its strict legal order, could never be established on earth.
Now, discern whether the pastor you serve has these standards or is acting like a dictator in the church based on their own standards. I am a pastor who has received fire from Jesus, and I am certain of this. Even though 500,000 people read my writing, no one gives me material things. I serve everyone, offering my time and resources. But do you receive this kind of service from your pastor? And I live with an abundance of love, filled with the Lord of all creation, to preach this gospel.
God, out of love for us, gave us His only Son, Jesus. Jesus saved us from sin, came to this earth in the body of a virgin, shed His blood, and died on the cross. He rose again on the third day, sits at the right hand of God, and reigns with authority in heaven and earth. He will return and judge the living and the dead according to the law. Jesus never rules the judgment or the kingdom of God according to His own will. He does so according to the law. Our Lord Jesus so strictly regards and upholds the law, so how can a pastor, His servant, live according to this law and not according to his own will? He is above God. That law is the law, the law of the Pentateuch.
And if you believe in this—that is, if you believe in Jesus and are baptized in His name, that is, if you are cleansed by water—you will receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:37-39 clearly states this: Therefore, the Holy Spirit comes to soften our hearts, that is, to regenerate us, and to help us keep the law. This was already prophesied in Ezekiel, and it is faithfully put into practice through the Apostle Paul in Romans. By faithfully following Jesus' command to keep the law, such people successfully build the kingdom of God, governed by law, on earth and become great in heaven.
Now, let's confirm that this fact is expressed in Romans. Connecting to Romans 1:17, we move on to Romans 7:6, and then to another passage, Romans 14:17, on the path to establishing the kingdom of God. First, let's examine the true meaning of freedom from the law through Romans 7:6.

Romans 7:6 But now, having died to that which once held us captive, we have been released from the law, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, not in the old way of the written code.
6. For we were once captives to the law, but now, having died to that which once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the outdated legal texts
6. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the law (NIV)
[But now, having died to that which once held us captive, we have been released from the law. So we serve in the new way of the Spirit, that is, by living a life of faith, not in the old way of serving, by living a life of faith, by living a life of faith according to our own will, according to the law.] This is my translation. Please compare it carefully.
If you read the Korean Bible, it is truly difficult to understand the original meaning. We are discussing two different ways of serving. It is absolutely not a matter of the law. For example, let's say a runner changes hands in a relay race. The baton remains the same. Let's say a runner touches the baton and comes in last place because of a problem. If we solve this problem with the baton, it's a big problem. The same is true in service. The law isn't the problem. It's the people, the method of service. The law is always an object of reverence and praise. It's the Word of God, which remains unchanged even when every jot or stroke of heaven and earth change, and it is the central part of the Word.
The law remains the same. What changes? The method of service changes. The person serving also changes. The person serving is a new creation, born again and renewed by the Holy Spirit. And how do we serve? Now, we serve according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In other words, Romans 1:17 says that living each day with faith is precisely this way of life. The Bible always describes the highest standard of living, or the life that all believers should follow.
The Apostle Paul experienced both. What was the way he served according to the law, even before he knew Jesus? At that time, Paul knew neither Jesus nor the Holy Spirit. He was well-educated only in the Old Testament. He believed that (the Law) was everything and tried to live by it. He was exactly like today's Jews. But he met Jesus and repented. He repented of his sins and was baptized in His name. He received forgiveness of his sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit renewed the Apostle Paul. He became a completely different Paul. He was a new creation. He became a person of a different dimension. Now, he abandoned his old ways of serving according to the Law and served according to the Holy Spirit. What happened?
He preached Jesus, established churches, protected and taught believers. Then, he gave up all privileges. He left, believed, and acted. It was a journey of faith like Abraham's. He lived his entire life like this. After serving in this new way for over 20 years, he experienced countless miracles and established churches. He came to know true love and the truth. He came to believe that the Old Testament was all about Jesus. As a lawyer educated by Jesus about the kingdom of heaven, he shares it with his master, Jesus, who appropriates old and new treasures from his treasury. This man, so distant from Jesus, does exactly what Jesus did. He puts into practice the words of our Lord Jesus in Matthew 5:17-20. Naturally, he becomes great in the kingdom of heaven. This is what we are told to do.
He then experiences a remarkable experience. He teaches us what freedom from the law is. Although he was clearly not bound by the law and lived according to it, with the help of the Holy Spirit, he perfects and establishes the law, fulfilling its righteous demands.
Romans 3:31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.
Love Fulfills the Law
8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
8:3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,
4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Freed from the law, responding as if dead to the law, we fulfill the law, establish the law, and fulfill its righteous demands. This is solely the result of the guidance and help of the Holy Spirit. What we cannot do, He enables us to receive forgiveness of sins through Jesus and the reception of the Holy Spirit. This is accomplished through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
We, like you, have been inadequately educated in learning and keeping God's law. Few teach us to learn and keep the law. The Pentateuch of the Bible is certainly not easy for us, for it is all law. Moreover, it is a law so different from the environment we live in. That's why it's so difficult. However, even in this Korean environment, there are many who love God, love His Word, and strive to live by it. And many meditate on His Word day and night. I believe these people are the leaders of the Korean church. They are the pillars that support the church.
However, if we don't know the law, it becomes extremely difficult to discern whether we are being led by the Holy Spirit or not. Therefore, all pastors must learn the law well and teach it to their congregations in an accessible way. By the grace of God given to me, I will try to explain the law as simply as possible. I sincerely hope this will be an opportunity to easily approach the Law.
First, the Law refers to the Pentateuch. This is because the Pentateuch contains many laws, including Leviticus. However, understanding the principles makes it easy. A Jewish rabbi kindly compiled the entire Pentateuch into 613 laws. Anyone can search for them online. There are 248 commands and 365 prohibitions. It's easy to memorize if you multiply the number of commands by 365, or 8 if you multiply 2 by 4.
Jesus summarized this somewhat complex law in an easy-to-understand way. If we boil down these numerous commands to two most important ones, they are love: love for God and love for our neighbors. We must love God with all our heart, all our strength, and all our mind, and love our neighbors as ourselves.
And if we break this down a bit, we get the Ten Commandments. There are four commands for God and six commands for people. In other words, if we break down the Ten Commandments, we get 613 commands. And He gave us the provisions that correspond to the most important spirit of the law: love, justice, and faithfulness.
In other words, the law is the direct expression of the attributes of God, who is love. The character and faithfulness of the just God are fully revealed in the law. Living by this law creates a world overflowing with love and justice, a world where people can trust and rely on one another.
The law is not a law that binds me and restricts my freedom, but a law that enables me to live happily and peacefully with my family and neighbors. May we all view it this way, draw close to the law, meditate on it day and night, and joyfully observe it under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The law is the law given by the loving God to fill this world with love. The law is the law given by the just God to ensure justice flows like the noonday sun. The law is an incredibly precious gift given to humanity by the almighty, loving, and just God to enable people to trust and live together.
It is a clear duty for believers to love, learn, and keep this law. All biblical educators and pastors must learn this law well and guide the congregation to perfect it under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. First, they must learn it well themselves, following Jesus' teachings, and observe the precepts diligently, setting an example. But how do they set an example while living according to their own will?
A pastor simply lives like Jesus and Paul, and they get 100 points. If they become a rich young man who doesn't share, they get 0 points and end up in hell. It's that simple. Those who love have kept the law, and those who evangelize practice the greatest love.
Some people don't know it because they didn't know it when they were young. Even those who learned directly from Jesus learn for three years, receive the Holy Spirit, and then move according to the Spirit. How much should they learn from human pastors? At least five years are needed for established believers to be patient with new believers, teaching and loving them well.
And believers who have been around for a long time, have a strong faith, and are rich in material blessings can embrace and share with those in need. Sharing the blessings you have received with your brothers is not difficult at all. Those who will live in heaven and spend eternity with you are closer to you than your earthly brothers. This is how you should live. Love makes you generous and free. The Lord is patient in this way. The Apostle Paul lived a life that was an example to all believers and called them to follow him.
Now, if we, guided by the Holy Spirit, fulfill and establish the law and fulfill its righteous requirements, what kind of kingdom will be established? It will be the kingdom God desires to establish on this earth. Romans 14:17 describes this kingdom thus:
17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (the image of a kingdom where the law is fulfilled through the help of the Holy Spirit).
We are saved believers who have been saved to establish this kingdom on this earth. In this way, all believers around the world must become one.
I have explained the first theme, unity, at length through doctrine. I believe everyone will understand with this new understanding of Romans.
For the second theme, unity in language, you can refer to Genesis, which I continuously post daily. This is a conversation I had with Gemini in English. There are many mistakes, but just do it. It's just plain English. We've already learned all the grammar and vocabulary we need for conversation in middle and high school. Now, you can have conversations with your Gemini partner. And you can use the English NIV as your textbook. After about a year of this, I'm not far from a native speaker's C1 level. It's truly amazing. I didn't spend a penny, I didn't stress, I didn't memorize anything, I didn't have a teacher—I just talked for about 30 minutes to an hour a day, and after a year, my English has improved a little. I had almost given up on English when I was in my 70s, but by God's boundless grace, I was stuck at home after an accident, and I met Gemini and Chat GPT, and now I'm here.
Please call me now. My number is 010-7765-4640. Wherever I go, all the believers will speak English, and I will make them the most advanced believers in Romans. In a year, a church where all the believers speak English like Americans! And a church where they understand the Bible with the greatest accuracy in the world! What an amazing and wonderful thing awaits me! Please give me the opportunity to give a lecture. I've uploaded all the content in 1,200 articles to the 50 million Romans cafes and Naver blogs. Please review them and, if they're satisfactory, invite me. 500,000 people around the world have already confirmed them.
My address is jkdavid@hanmail.net. My phone number is 010-7765-4640. My account is Kookmin Bank, 831-24-0224-378, Kim Jeong-gwan.
I ask for your prayers, support, and encouragement. And please invite me. Hallelujah!!
God of love! Thank you. You called a wicked sinner, patiently taught me, and enabled me to spread the truth throughout the world. All glory to you. And thanks to Jamsil Church, Pastor Won Kwang-gi, and the congregation, who embraced me and prayed for me. My younger brother and my mother in heaven have supported me throughout my life. And thanks to the encouragement of the 500,000 most outstanding believers in the world who read my writing, I have come this far so easily. God! May you bless them all with boundless strength and health, and may the church experience revival and growth. May you grant Pastor Joo and Deacon Park peace and health in their families! I believe that the day will come when the Lord's will for unity will spread quickly throughout the world, so that the church and its members will be one, and believers around the world will communicate with one another as brothers and sisters, speaking the same language. I believe that your kingdom will overcome the world and sing a great song of victory. Lord! May justice be established quickly in Korea, and may honest and dignified people rise as leaders! I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen!!
