<p class="cafe-editor-text">I follow Hana RA (나하나) imposter matter for more than three years. How does this matter work? Let me give you an example.<br /><br />A person named X received two offers, one was from UofT and the other was from Harvard. X accepted Harvard's offer and rejected UofT's offer. Somebody sold X's UofT offer. A person named H bought X's UofT offer and a fake X's ID. H used them to register at the UofT and got her T-card. The name on her T-card was X's and the photo was H's. H pretended to be X to study at the UofT. How can H change her pretending name, X into H? In the last semester of graduation, the UofT gives their students an opportunity to do name and gender changes, please see the form at https://kpe.utoronto.ca/sites/default/files/change_of_name_or_gender_request_form_oct2018.pdf. H can change her pretending name to her real name, then her real name is shown on her certificate of bachelor's degree. I have to say that some staff of the UofT involve in this matter and Hana's imposter case is not an individual case at the UofT. <br /><br />The UofT is a top 25 university in the world, its reputation will be damaged by the imposter incident. One question: I myself legally changed the name in 2017. For H to report her name change (let's say from X to H) to the registrar, she should have the legal name change certificate issued by the provincial government. During the process of changing her legal name, she is obligated to let the OPP collect her fingerprints; I am sure she cannot clear that requirement using a piece of fake ID, because the police authority must be aware that she has never been named X. I would like to hear any extra reasoning for this point. Note that I am never for H's misconduct if any.

Please read the information posted on the rule of name change. Please think about which office has X's information, as well as can do the name's change. If the staff is based on the rule of the name change, the imposter matter cannot be happened. It is a team offence. The name change does not relative to any government office. It just needs to fill out a form before issuing the certificate of degree. After that, the real name will be shown on certificate of degree. It does not change the name on the certificate.
I will try my best to answer your doubts. The key points of this matter are that Hana RA registered at the UofT as an official student (a witness can prove it), she took courses and attended exams (her classmates can prove them) from 2016 to 2018 until her T-card was checked by the UTKSA. Without a T-card, she cannot register and attend exams. If she has a real T-card, why did she not show it to UTKSA? After her T-card was checked, she no longer studied at UofT. Why? I think the only reason is that she was afraid of being arrested by the campus police. (cont'd)
I heard she explained that she did not have a T-card, she just pretended to be a UofT student to take some courses at the UofT, and she did not pay her tuition. If these sentences are true, she would continue to take courses after her T-card was checked instead of stopping. It is legal to take courses at UofT, however, it is illegal to buy an offer and use a fake ID to register at the UofT. It is not a common sense: A 18-year old person takes courses at UofT and does not need a degree. Please think about these key points.
I don't care whether she manipulated any ID which is not primary including T-card, or intentionally missed the tuition payment. My question rises from the fact that no one can request a change of name displayed on academic records at the end of semester, without the "official" document issued by Ontario government. Police catches her far easily if she dares to try the legal name change.

@HamiltonianCampus police only can catch a suspect inside the campus. If the suspect is outside the campus, the public police can help. But, it needs the campus police to write a record. Hana does not appear inside campus, because she has stopped her study. So far, the campus police did not write a record, because it is a scandal of UofT. I talked the case with a 52-Division police and he is not amazed. Hana's name and birth date on her Korea and Canada passports sepreately are Hana NA/Hana RA and May 16, 1998(*3)/May 15, 1998. How did the Canadian immigrant officer verify her personal information?
Person X's offer was sold by a staff of the UofT to a company. Person H bought it from the company. Person X does not know her offer was sold. If you are a UofT student, you can receive the notice of name and gender change by email in your final semester of graduation. Some students certainly changed their names while studying at the UofT, such as marry and so on. The policy is for these students, however, it is illegally used. I do not understand Korean and English is not my first language. Otherwise, I can answer your doubts much more better.

@미미르My son did not return Toronto since he left in Feb. 2017. The fact are that Hana RA did not pretend to be a UofT student and she pretended to be another person (X). She paid her tuition. In order to protect the witness, I cannot give any information on the witness who saw her registration. Hana has a Canada passport, so she paid very lower tuition.

@LyonsThe case has been reported to Prof. Hamilton who is an associate chair of undergraduate at Dept. of Econ. She sent the report to Mr. Mackay who is a director of the Office of Registrar, Faculty of Art and Science. Mr. Mackay sent it to the UofT campus police. Hana stopped her study at the UofT after her T-card was checked by the UTKSA. Hana registered at UofT (St. George), Dept. of Econ. She got some credits during her two-year study. However, these credits did not belong to her, because she pretended to be person X. If you want to know more detailed about the case, please contact Mr. Mackay.
