Look at how the Red Sox are doing in this point in the season. They went through an offensive slump and no Kim's pitching isn't helping any. First things first. Shea Hillenbrand was a Yankee killer. He always got hits off them and Kim just places the ball on a tee for them or anyone else he faces for this matter. Shea could've been a big help during the recent offensive slump but he isn't here any more. If the Red Sox don't make the Wild Card Kim will be the reason why. Theo Epstein has done a great job so far but the Kim/Shea Trade was a poor one. Grady should make someone else the closer. Williamson has plenty of experience and Embree has done it in the past as well. Lets hope things change soon.

Embree has been pitching very well so far reguardless of if he has only 6 saves to his credit. He has a stronger mentallity than Kim. It suits him for now. Even if Embree can't do it Williamson can....want to tell me his stats too?..hmm

I am a Korean who has been recently visiting this Red Sox message board quite often. If I had not been Byunghyun's fan, I would have no reason to enter this site. What I want to say is, to BK, this message board is literally a cuttingboard on which he is being cut as if a fish. He seems not to feel at home at all at his 'home' stadium. In Korea, we don't boo our hometeam players no matter how bad they play, which, however, doesn't mean we don't love baseball. Some comments on this board are like daggers and arrows. Am I having a kind of culture shock, or is it mainly because security of anonymity encouraged a few 'ungentle' people?

I don't have a right to, and don't want to, prevent those people from thinking whatever they want to think, but they should at least filter it before letting it out the mouth, I believe.

I agree that the fans should not be booing BK no matter how bad he has been pitching. That said, however, you are hearing many many years of frustration being let out. It's not about BK. We have even booed Pedro this year when he had a horrible outing against the Orioles. I hope BK can get it back together and then believe me you will hear the cheers and hopefully this bad stretch will become a distant memory.

But BK knows, any player knows, that when you go on the mound and struggle, esp. when you are responsible for losing a critically important game (this week), you're going to get booed. It's part of baseball. It doesn't mean we don't like the player--remember how Lowe was booed all the time? Did you see the ovation he got tonight?--but it does mean that we expect them to perform on a consistent level.

I think BK is a great player who will be a part of our pitching staff (hopefully our rotation) for years to come. I'm cheering for him hard. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to criticize him when he struggles. Baseball players have learned to deal with media criticism (though it's a lot worse in Boston than in most places--because WE WANT TO WIN RIGHT NOW).

Scott Williamson came in to close out the Sox' 6-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners last night when manager Grady Little decided to give Byung-Hyun Kim a day off in a non-save situation.

Williamson, who had 21 saves for the Cincinnati Reds before being traded to Boston on July 31, allowed a leadoff single to Rey Sanchez in the ninth, but got Ben Davis to line into a double play to extinguish Seattle's comeback hopes.

With Kim struggling in recent save situations, Williamson soon may get the chance to close some games.

``It felt good, but that's B.K.'s job,'' Williamson said. ``It's nice that we have a good, solid bullpen and we can give guys days off when they need them.''

Kim has two blown saves, a loss and a 15.00 ERA in his last four appearances, but Little said he simply needed a breather.
