Georg Christoph Bach (1642–1697) was a German Baroque composer and organist, and the uncle of Johann Sebastian Bach’s father. His best-known work is Siehe, wie fein und lieblich ist es (“Behold, how good and pleasant it is”), composed for two tenors, bass, violin, three gambas, and continuo. He wrote this piece on his 47th birthday during a visit from his two younger twin brothers. The text is based on Psalm 133, celebrating brotherly unity. This work is notable for its expressive vocal and instrumental writing, typical of the early German Baroque style.
