Bible Reading - Acts 5:32~42

5:32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

우리는 이러한 것들의 증인이며 하나님께서 그에게 순종하는 자들에게 주셨던 성령님도 그러하시다.

5:33 When they heard this, 그들이 이러한 말을 들었을 때,

they were furious and wanted to put them to death. 그들은 화가나서 그들을 사형에 처하기를 원했다.

5:34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, 

그러나 모든 사람들에게 존경받는 율법 선생인 가말리엘이라고 이름하는 한 바리새인이 

stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.

산헤드린에서 일어나서 잠시 동안 그 사람들이 밖으로 나가도록 주문했다.

5:35 Then he addressed them: 그때 그는 그들에게 연설했다.

"Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men.

이스라엘 사람들아, 너희가 이 사람들에게 무엇을 하려고 의도하는지 주의깊게 숙고하라.

5:36 Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. 얼마 전 드다가 나타나 자신이 특별한 사람이라고 주장했고, 약 400명의 사람들이 그에게 몰려들었다.

He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing.

그가 죽임을 당하여 그의 모든 추종자들이 뿔뿔이 흩어졌고 아무 것도 아닌 것이 되었다. 

5:37 After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. 그 사람 후에, 갈릴리 사람 유다가 인구 조사 기간에 나타나 무리를 이끌고 반란을 일으켰다.

He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.

그도 역시 죽임을 당하였고 그의 모든 추종자들이 흩어졌다.

5:38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: 그러므로 이 경우에 나는 당신들에게 조언한다.

Leave these men alone! Let them go! 이 사람들을 놓아두어라. 그들을 보내주어라.

For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.

만일 그들의 목적이나 활동이 사람에게서 났다면, 그것은 실패할 것이다. 

5:39 But if it is from God, 그러나 만일 그것이 하나님으로부터 났다면 

you will not be able to stop these men; 너희들은 이 사람들을 막지 못할 것이며 

you will only find yourselves fighting against God."

너희는 하나님을 대항하여 싸우고 있는 너희 자신들을 오직 발견할 것이다. 

5:40 His speech persuaded them. 그의 연설이 그들을 설득했다.

They called the apostles in and had them flogged. 그들은 사도들을 안으로 불러 들여서 채찍질했다.

Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

그리고 나서 그들은 예수의 이름으로 말하지 말라고 그들에게 명령하고 그들을 가게 했다.

5:41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.

사도들은 산헤드린을 떠나면서, 그리스도의 이름 때문에 수치를 당할 만한 자격이 있다고 여겨진 것을 기뻐했다.

5:42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

날마다 성전 뜰에서 그리고 집에서 집으로 그들은 가르치기와 예수께서 그리스도라는 복음을 선포하기를 멈추지 않았다.
