1. 사울이 [주]의 제자들을 치려고 여전히 위협과 살기를 내뿜으며 대제사장에게 가서

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

2. 다마스커스의 회당들에 가져갈 편지를 그에게 요청하니 이것은 그가 이 길에 속한 사람을 만나면 남녀를 막론하고 그들을 결박하여 예루살렘으로 잡아오려 함이더라.

And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 

3. 사울이 길을 가다가 다마스커스에 가까이 이르렀을 때에 갑자기 하늘로부터 빛이 나와 그를 둘러 비추더라.

And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4.그가 땅에 쓰러져 들으매 한 음성이 있어 그에게 이르시되, 사울아, 사울아, 어찌하여 네가 나를 핍박하느냐? 하거늘

And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5. 그가 이르되, [주]여, 누구시니이까? 하니 [주]께서 이르시되, 나는 네가 핍박하는 예수라. 가시 채를 걷어차기가 네게 고생이라, 하시거늘

And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6. 그가 떨며 심히 놀라 이르되, [주]여, 내가 무엇을 하기 원하시나이까? 하매 [주]께서 그에게 이르시되, 일어나 도시로 들어가라. 그러면 네가 반드시 해야 할 일을 듣게 되리라, 하시니라.

And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

7. 그와 함께 여행하던 사람들은 음성만 듣고 아무도 보지 못한 채 말을 못하고 서 있더라.

And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

8. 사울이 땅에서 일어나 눈을 떴으나 아무도 보지 못하므로 그들이 손으로 그를 인도하여 다마스커스로 데려가니라.

And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought [him] into Damascus.

9. 사울이 사흘 동안 보지 못하고 먹지도 마시지도 아니하더라.

And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

10. 다마스커스에 아나니야라 하는 어떤 제자가 있더라. [주]께서 환상 중에 그에게 이르시되, 아나니야야, 하시거늘 그가 이르되, 보소서, [주]여, 내가 여기 있나이다, 하매

And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I [am here], Lord.

11. [주]께서 그에게 이르시되, 일어나 곧은 거리라 하는 거리로 가서 유다의 집에서 사울이라 하는 다소 사람을 찾으라. 보라, 그가 기도하고 있느니라.

And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for [one] called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

12. 그가 환상 중에 아나니야라 하는 사람이 들어와 자기에게 안수하여 시력을 받게 하는 것을 보았느니라, 하시거늘

And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting [his] hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

13. 이에 아나니야가 응답하되, [주]여, 이 사람에 대해 내가 많은 사람에게 들었는데 그가 예루살렘에서 주의 성도들에게 많은 악을 행하였다 하더이다.

Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

14. 여기서도 그가 주의 이름을 부르는 모든 사람을 결박할 권한을 수제사장들에게서 받았나이다, 하매

And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

15. [주]께서 그에게 이르시되, 네 길로 가라. 그는 이방인들과 왕들과 이스라엘 자손 앞에 내 이름을 전하기 위해 내가 택한 그릇이니라.

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

16. 그가 내 이름으로 인하여 얼마나 큰일들로 반드시 고난을 겪어야 하는지 내가 그에게 보이리라, 하시니

For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my names sake.

17. 아나니야가 자기 길로 가서 그 집에 들어가 사울에게 안수하며 이르되, 형제 사울아, [주] 곧 네가 올 때 길에서 네게 나타나신 예수님께서 나를 보내사 네가 시력을 받게 하시고 [성령]님으로 충만하게 하셨느니라, 하매

And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, [even] Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

18. 즉시 사울의 눈에서 비늘 같은 것이 떨어지고 그가 곧 시력을 받으니라. 그가 일어나 침례를 받고

And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

19. 음식을 받으매 강건해지니라. 그 뒤 사울이 다마스커스에 있던 제자들과 며칠을 지내며

And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

20. 즉시로 회당들에서 그리스도를 선포하되 그분이 [하나님]의 [아들]이심을 선포하거늘

And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

21. 그의 말을 들은 자들이 다 놀라 이르되, 이 사람은 예루살렘에서 이 이름을 부르던 자들을 멸하던 자가 아니냐, 그가 여기 온 것도 그들을 결박하여 수제사장들에게 끌어가고자 함이 아니냐? 하더라.

But all that heard [him] were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

22. 그러나 사울은 점점 더 힘을 얻어 이분이 바로 그리스도임을 입증하며 다마스커스에 거하던 유대인들을 당황하게 하니라.

But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

23. 여러 날이 지나서 유대인들이 사울을 죽이려고 의논하였으나

And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:

24. 그들이 숨어 있음을 사울이 알게 되니라. 그들이 그를 죽이려고 밤낮으로 성문들을 지키므로

But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

25. 그때에 제자들이 밤에 사울을 데려다가 바구니에 담아 성벽을 통해 달아 내리니라.

Then the disciples took him by night, and let [him] down by the wall in a basket.

26. 사울이 예루살렘에 가서 제자들과 합류하려 하였으나 그들이 다 그를 두려워하며 그가 제자 된 것을 믿지 아니하되

And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

27. 바나바는 그를 데리고 사도들에게 가서 그가 길에서 [주]를 본 것과 또 그분께서 그에게 말씀하신 것과 다마스커스에서 그가 예수님의 이름으로 담대히 선포한 것을 그들에게 밝히 말하니라.

But Barnabas took him, and brought [him] to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

28. 사울이 제자들과 함께 있으면서 예루살렘에서 드나들며

And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

29. [주] 예수님의 이름으로 담대히 말하고 그리스말 하는 사람들을 논박하니라. 그러나 그들이 그를 죽이려 하매

And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

30. 형제들이 그것을 알고 그를 가이사랴로 데리고 내려가서 다소로 보내니라.

[Which] when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

31. 그때에 온 유대와 갈릴리와 사마리아에서 교회들이 두루 안식을 얻어 든든히 세워지고 [주]를 두려워하는 가운데 [성령]님의 위로 안에서 걸으며 크게 늘어나니라.

Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

32. 그때에 베드로가 모든 지역으로 두루 다니다가 룻다에 거하는 성도들에게도 내려가니라.

And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all [quarters], he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

33. 그가 거기서 애니아라 하는 어떤 사람을 만났는데 그는 마비 병으로 팔 년 동안 자리에 누워 있더라.

And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

34. 베드로가 그에게 이르되, 애니아야, 예수 그리스도께서 너를 온전하게 하시니 일어나 네 자리를 정돈하라, 하매 그가 곧 일어나니

And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

35. 룻다와 사론에 거하던 자들이 다 그를 보고 [주]께로 돌아오니라.

And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

36. 이제 욥바에 다비다라 하는 어떤 제자가 있었는데 그 이름을 번역하면 도르가더라. 이 여자가 베푼 선행과 구제 행위가 심히 많더라.

Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. 

37. 그 무렵에 그녀가 병들어 죽으매 그들이 그녀를 씻어 다락방에 누이니라.

And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid [her] in an upper chamber.

38. 룻다가 욥바에서 가까우므로 제자들이 베드로가 거기 있다는 것을 듣고 두 사람을 그에게 보내어 그가 지체하지 말고 자기들에게 와 줄 것을 청하니

And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring [him] that he would not delay to come to them. 

39. 이에 베드로가 일어나 그들과 함께 가니라. 그가 이르매 그들이 그를 데리고 다락방으로 들어가니 모든 과부들이 베드로 곁에 서서 슬피 울며 도르가가 자기들과 함께 있을 때에 만들어 준 겉옷과 웃옷을 보이거늘

Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

40. 베드로가 그들을 다 내보내고 무릎을 꿇고 기도하고는 돌아서서 그 몸을 향해 이르되, 다비다야, 일어나라, 하매 다비다가 눈을 떠 베드로를 보고 일어나 앉으니라.

But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning [him] to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41. 베드로가 그녀에게 손을 내밀어 그녀를 일으켜 세우고 성도들과 과부들을 불러 그녀가 살아난 것을 보이니

And he gave her [his] hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

42. 그 일이 온 욥바에 두루 알려지고 많은 사람이 [주]를 믿더라.

And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

43. 베드로가 욥바에서 시몬이라 하는 무두장이와 함께 여러 날을 머무니라.

And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.
