Bible Reading - Acts 7:1~10

1. Then the high priest asked Stephen, “Are these charges true?”
그래서 대제사장은 스데반에게 "이 모든 고소들이 사실인가?"하고 물었다.

2.To this he replied: 이에 그가 대답했다.
“Brothers and fathers, listen to me! "형제들과 아버지들이여, 들어보라.
The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Harran.
그가 하란에서 살기 전 아직 메소포타미아에서 있었을 때 영광의 하나님께서 우리 조상 아브라함에게 나타나셨다.

3. ‘Leave your country and your people,’ God said, ‘and go to the land I will show you.’
"너의 나라와 너의 사람들을 떠나 내가 너에게 보여줄 그 땅으로 가라."고 하나님께서 말씀하셨다.

4. “So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Harran.
그래서 그는 갈대아 땅을 떠나 하란에서 정착했다.
After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.
그의 아버지가 죽은 후에 하나님은 그를 너희가 지금 살고 있는 이 땅으로 보내셨다.

5. He gave him no inheritance here, not even enough ground to set his foot on.
그는 그에게 아무런 유산도 심지어 발을 디딜 땅조차 주지 않았다.
But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child.
그러나 아브라함이 자녀가 전혀 없었을 그때에 그와 그의 후에 그의 자손들이 그 땅을 소유하게 될 것이라고 약속하셨다.

6. God spoke to him in this way:
하나님이 이와같이 말씀하셨다.
‘For four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated.
400년 동안 너의 자손들이 그들의 나라가 아닌 나라에서 나그네가 될 것이며 그들이 노예가 되어 학대를 받을 것이다.

7. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves,’ God said, ‘and afterward they will come out of that country and worship me in this place.’
그러나 나는 그들이 노예로서 섬기는 그 나라를 처벌할 것이다. 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. "나중에 그들이 그 나라에서 나올 것이며 이 장소에서 나에게 예배할 것이다."

8. Then he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision.
그때 그는 아브라함에게 할례의 언약을 주었다.
And Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him eight days after his birth.
그리고 아브라함은 이삭의 아버지가 되었고 그(이삭)가 태어난지 8일만에 할례를 했다.
Later Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.
후에 이삭은 야곱의 아버지, 그리고 야곱은 열두 족장의 아버지가 되었다.

9. “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him
족장들이 요셉을 질투했기 때문에 그들은 그를 이집트에 노예로 팔았다. 그러나 하나님은 그와 함께 하셨고

10. and rescued him from all his troubles.
모든 환란에서 그를 구하셨다
He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
그분은 요셉에게 지혜를 주셨고, 그로 하여금 이집트의 파라오 왕의 호감을 얻을 수 있도록 해 주셨다.
So Pharaoh made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.
그래서 파라오는 이집트와 그의 모든 궁전의 통치자로 그를 만들었다.
