Okinawa women against US military V-22 "Osprey" aircraft deployment appeal for democracy, human rights & peace at Oyama gate, US Marine Futenma Air Station, Ginowan City, Sunday night, September 29, 2012.
In this powerful one-minute video, you can hear Suzuyo Takazato, co-director of Okinawa Women Against Military Violence, leading the group in "We Shall Overcome..."
Despite the all-island opposition, which has been expressed in every democratic way possible, including the September 9 protest rally attended by over 100,000 people, the Japanese and US governments are about to force through the plan to deploy MV-22 Osprey, twelve of them currently at Iwakuni Marine Base. Hundreds of citizens are now protesting at Futenma gates... see three video clips below, of confrontations between the citizens and the local police, on September 28, at Oyama Gate (Gate 1). In the first one, citizens are speaking to the Futenma security guards and marines in English, "No Osprey! I never give up!." Cars are gathering at the gates, effectively blocking them and paralyzing base functions. Okinawan author chinin usii says to people in Japan, "Those in Japan please go to Iwakuni, to stop the Osprey from flying to Okinawa. Those in the US, please get Osprey out of Japan and bring them back to the US." @PeacePhilosophy
