Dear friends,
We have been home now for six months, and this land lubber life is slowly taking hold.
1) Being tied, nice and securely in a safe Marina, as the wind howls.
2) not practicing witch doctor magic trying to figure out the winds and weather.
3) walking for pleasure, not to get to the groceries
4) getting into the car to go somewhere, instead of riding a bycycle
5) being able to read bill boards, food labels
6) having a telephone
7) lying in bed watching television
And the most important thing...
Having family within hugging distance
But we do miss the adventure and the unknown....waking up each day, never knowing what will be happening...who we will be meeting, where we will be going, what we will seeing. What the weather will be like.......
However life is good. The galley has been finished and is looking good, the new wall lining is on and although it caused Brian a lot of grief (and a lot of swearing) we are both happy with it. The hard dodger Brian has made has created a lot of interest. Other yachties have been coming to look and then asking if he would make one for them. We have been re connecting with old friends and making new ones.
We are coming to terms with the weather. The fact that we can..... see the Milky Way again, have distant horizons....far out weighs a bit of cold and wind.
On Friday we fly to Vancouver and Brians 70th birthday present, which is an Alaskan cruise. We had a lovely day for him, which ended with a dinner in an Indian restaurant with friends....thank goodness I have ten years before I have to think of another very special present. :)
When we get back I think I will look for a job of some sort. Brian has plenty to keep him busy but I find each day drags...there is only so much housework (boat work) to be done. My input to CHARIOTEER is the varnishing.....inside is coming along nicely and outside areas will not be done until summer. I have taken up the knitting needles, I am trying to learn Spanish, I am becoming shorter ( read....eating to much) and getting cuddly ( read...putting on weight)
I now have the cruising guides and charts for our next adventure beside the bed. I am reading all I can about South America...it sure is a big country......
The dreaming continues
We hope you are all well and enjoying life
Love and hugs
Carol and Brian
