Some of the biggest eaters in Britain here to prove their worth. Who can eat the most mince pies in ten minutes and be crowned top trougher?
Up against them, Sonya Thomas, tiny and just seven stone. She's come from America where she's a champion, but can she do it here?
"I'm going to try to eat about over 50. So, we will see."
Sonya takes it very seriously. She sees herself as an international athlete. So, time to limber up, focus, and think tactics while the locals have a more straightforward approach. "Open wide."
"Three, two, one. Eat!"
Believe it or not, there are strict rules and even an international governing body. Some might have been having a laugh, but the organizers insist this is a serious contest, and Sonya would surely agree if she didn't have her mouth full.
Sonya is already through half the mince pies on her plate, but she's still got another five minutes to go.
In America, eating competitions are shown live on TV sports channels, and the organizers hope that will soon happen here. They deny claims that images like this send out the wrong message in an age of obesity and famine.
"It's not necessarily unhealthy. It's only a ten-minute contest. It's really what you do outside of the contest that determines your health."
Sonya works out in the gym for two hours everyday and she will need to.
"Stop!"
She is the clear winner. Forty-six mince pies in just ten minutes.
"How are you feeling?"
"Oh, yeah. I feel fine. I can eat more."
The locals can only watch on, amazed. Even after the final bell, Sonya is still keen to clear her plate. The prize : 1,000 pounds, and probably as many ounces.
