Father, around the office I see people carrying

self-help books to read during their lunch breaks.

Each month another title makes the best-seller list.

Yet, few have enough substance to be enduring classics.

Lord, when I study my human nature, i find many constants in my character- I am sinful, selfish, full of pride, somethime afraid,

and always facing death.   The bible addresses all these issues.

Your Word is more thorough than any contemporary book

that would try to show me how to improve myself with out Your assistance.  May I always remember to turn to Your enduring

guidebook for daily living and eternal salvation.
