Bible Reading - Proverbs 1:1-10

1:1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:

이스라엘의 왕 다윗의 아들 솔로몬의 잠언이라.

1:2 for attaining(달성,도달하기 위해) wisdom and discipline; 지혜와 규율을 얻기 위해

for understanding words of insight; 통찰력의 말씀을 이해하기 위해

1:3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent(신중한) life, 규율 있고 신중한 삶을 얻기 위해

doing what is right(옳고) and just(정의롭고) and fair(공정한); 옳고 정의롭고 공평한 일을 행하기 위해

1:4 for giving prudence(신중함) to the simple, 단순한 자들에게 신중함을 주기 위해

knowledge and discretion(분별력) to the young-- 젊은이들에게 지식과 분별력을 주기 위해

1:5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, 현명한 자들이 듣고 그들의 학식에 더하게 하고

and let the discerning(분별력 있는 자) get guidance-- 분별력 있는 자에게 지침을 주어라

1:6 for understanding proverbs and parables, 잠언과 비유들을 이해하기 위해

the sayings and riddles of the wise. 지혜로운 자들의 말과 수수께끼를 이해하기 위해

1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, 여호와(주님)을 경외하는 것이 지식의 시작이라

but fools despise(멸시하다) wisdom and discipline. 그러나 어리석은 자들은 지혜와 훈육을 멸시한다.

1:8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction(훈계) 내 아들아 너의 아버지의 훈계를 듣고

and do not forsake(저버리다) your mother's teaching.너의 어머니의 가르침을 저버리지 말라.

1:9 They will be a garland to grace(장식하는) your head 그것들이 너의 머리를 장식하는 화환이 될 것이며

and a chain to adorn(꾸미다) your neck. 너의 목을 장식할 사슬이 될 것이다. 

1:10 My son, if sinners entice(꾀다,유혹하다) you, do not give in(포기, 굴복하다) to them.

내 아들아, 만일 죄인들이 너를 유혹한다면 그들에게 굴복하지 말라.
