The Apostle Paul writes this letter
while he is a prisoner in a Roman jail.
Ephesus was a city filled with idols
and worldly influences,
yet there were believers
who held firmly to the gospel.
Paul does not complain about his situation.
Instead, he remembers the believers
with thanksgiving and prayer.
The Bible presents this imprisoned Paul
as a precious servant of God,
and the believers
as treasures in God’s sight.
This passage reminds us
how valuable elderly believers are
before God.
Point 1
Saints Remembered for Faith and Love (vv. 15–16)
Paul thanks God
for the faith and love of the believers.
What God values most
is not wealth or ability,
but faith and love.
Even in old age,
a life that has kept faith
and lived in love
is precious to God.
Quiet faithfulness,
steadfast worship,
and silent prayer
are heavenly treasures.
Point 2
A Prayer to Know God More Deeply (v. 17)
Paul prays
that God would give
the Spirit of wisdom and revelation
to know Him better.
Knowing God
is greater than all worldly knowledge.
As we grow older,
God allows us
to know Him more deeply
through His Word.
To know God
is the greatest blessing of life.
Point 3
Hope and Power That Sustain the Saints (vv. 18–19)
God calls His people
with a sure and living hope.
Our life does not end here;
it continues into eternity.
The same power
that raised Jesus from the dead
is at work in believers today.
As our bodies grow weaker,
we depend more fully
on God’s power and grace.
Dear brothers and sisters,
you are not measured
by the standards of this world.
In God’s sight,
you are precious saints
who have walked by faith.
Your life of faith
is a testimony of grace.
May you continue
to know God more deeply,
hold fast to hope,
and walk in His power
until the end.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
we thank You
for leading us in faith
to this day.
Help us to know
how precious we are in Your sight.
Grant us deeper knowledge of You,
a firm hope in heaven,
and strength through Your power
to live each day in peace.
We pray in the name
of Jesus Christ.
Amen. (Youngnak Church of Hawaii Rev. Chung Woong Kim. 02/08/2026)
