■ Feedback from 2024 USA Seminar
Last weekend, Grandmaster Kim Jeong Seong, founder of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo and President of the United World Haedong Kumdo Federation, taught a seminar in Minnesota, USA. The seminar was beyond excellent; it was incredibly educational, enjoyable, and healing.
The weekend curriculum was meticulously designed, seamlessly combining the 'Skills, Philosophy, and Healing' themes in Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo. The overarching principle of 'Energy Flow' was not just a part of the seminar but its very essence, leading to a transformative understanding of this Korean two-sword System.
My most memorable experiences with Chong Jae Nim Kim and his seminar involved the fantastic way he instructed Energy Flow through Kimu. The hand positioning, the timing of the switch, and the vicinity of the hands and arms as they transitioned were most noticeable to me. I felt the energy carried through Kimu into the Sword and experienced the direct correlation between the two, mainly when both swords were used.
I felt very fortunate that my students and I were able to share many meals, coffee, and conversations with Chong Jae Nim. I was deeply moved on Saturday evening when several of us received healing energy. As he explained, he follows the energy and gets it to flow freely. The rest of the healing process continues within us as Nature takes its course.
At breakfast on his final morning before his 22-hour flight back to Korea, he said, " I want to help people grow and heal." He emphasized the importance of keeping the body healthy through Kimu, proper diet, exercise, emotional regulation, and the principles of body movement when using the Sword.
Thank you, Chong Jae Nim, for an unforgettable experience.
Respectfully,
