Godology: Because Knowing God Changes Everything

The Author : Christian Timothy George

Dr. Christian George serves as Assistant Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies at Oklahoma Baptist University. He received his PhD in theology from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, where he studied the Christology of Charles Spurgeon. George received his Master of Divinity degree from Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama, and his bachelor's degree from Samford University.

George is the author of several books including Sex, Sushi, & Salvation, Godology, and Sacred Travels. He has contributed to the Journal of Theological Studies, Theology in Scotland, and Perichoresis Journal of Theology, and also to popular theological magazines such as Conversations and Modern Reformation. His work has been featured in Christianity Today, The Christian Century, and Preaching, and he has been interviewed on Moody Broadcasting Radio and other syndicated shows in the U.S. and throughout the world. He preaches and speaks regularly throughout North America and Europe in churches, at spiritual retreats, at youth and college camps, and in university chapel services. George's passion for world evangelism has taken him to more than thirty countries for short-term mission work.

George has served his denomination as a messenger to the Southern Baptist Convention, as a member of the Teller's Committee of the SBC, and currently as a member of the Baptist History & Heritage Commission of the Baptist World Alliance. He has participated in BWA meetings in South Korea, Sweden, Germany, Canada, and England, and regularly writes Bible study curriculum for LifeWay Christian Resources (The Gospel Project).

타고르는 한국을 소재로 한 시, 《동방의 등불》을 남겼다. 《동방의 등불》은 1929년 타고르가 일본에 들렀을 때, 동아일보 기자가 한국 방문을 요청하자 이에 응하지 못함을 미안하게 여겨 그 대신 동아일보 기자에게 전해준 짧은 시이며 내용은 다음과 같다.

일찍이 아시아의 황금시기에
빛나던 등촉의 하나인 조선
그 등불 한번 다시 켜지는 날에
너는 동방의 밝은 빛이 되리라
