The government plan to save spotted owls by killing up off other owl species.
Documents obtained by the AP showed the strategy by the fishing and wildlife by service is to deploy trained shooters into dense forest along the west coast with the goal of killing almost half million bartred owls. they are crowding a declining spotted owl population . Spotted owls are smaller and unable to compte with bartred owls
the document showed the plan is to kill about 4 hundred 50 thousand bartred owls over three decades.
Past attempts to saved spotted owls focused on protecting the forest where they live. The increase in bartred owl population is undermining that work
