🌴🇻🇦✝️종려주일(Palm Sunday)은 부활절 전 일요일에 열리는 기독교의 이동식 축제이다. 이 축제는 정경의 네 복음서 각각에 언급된 사건인 그리스도의 예루살렘 입성을 기념하는 날이다. 그 이름은 예수 그리스도께서 도시에 들어오실 때 군중이 환영하고 존경하기 위해 흔드는 종려나무 가지에서 유래되었다. 종려주일은 성주간의 첫날이다. 서방 기독교에서는 이것이 부활절 이전의 엄숙한 사순절의 마지막 주가 시작되는 반면, 동방 기독교에서는 성주간이 대사순절이 끝난 후에 시작된다. 정교회, 가톨릭, 루터교, 감리교, 성공회, 모라비아 및 개혁 전통을 포함한 주류 기독교 교파의 많은 교회는 종려주일 예배 중에 회중에게 종려 나무 가지를 배포한다. 기독교인들은 종종 성직자들의 축복을 받는 이 종려나무를 집으로 가져가서 기독교 예술품(특히 십자가와 십자가상) 옆에 걸어 두거나 성경과 매일 묵상하는 책에 보관한다. 카니발 또는 참회로 알려진 다음 해 사순절 전날에 교회는 종종 나르텍스(배랑, 현관이나 회랑)에 바구니를 넣어 이 야자나무를 모은 다음 참회의 화요일에 의식적으로 태워 사순절 첫날, 다음 날인 재의 수요일에 사용할 재를 만든다.
