Bible Reading - Acts 12:1~8

1. It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them.
헤롯 왕이 교회에 속한 사람들을 핍박할 의도를 가지고 몇 사람들을 체포한 때가 대략 이때였다.

2. He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.
그는 요한의 형제 야고보를 검으로 사형에 처했다.

3. When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also.
그가 이것이 유대인들 사이에서 호응을 얻는 것을 보고 베드로도 붙잡으려고 나섰다.
This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.
이 일은 무교절 기간 동안에 일어났다.

4. After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each.
그를 체포한 후, 그는 그를 감옥에 가두고 네 명씩 네 조로 나뉜 경비병들에게 감시를 맡겼다.
Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.
헤롯은 유월절 이후에 그를 끌어내 공개 재판을 열려고 의도했다.

5. So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
그래서 베드로는 감옥에 갇혔으나 교회는 간절히 그를 위해 하나님께 기도하고 있었다.

6. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.
헤롯이 베드로를 재판에 회부하기 전날 밤, 베드로는 두 명의 군인 사이에 잠들어 있었고, 두 개의 사슬에 묶여 있었으며, 보초병들이 입구를 지키고 있었다.

7. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell.
갑자기 주의 천사가 나타나서 빛을 감옥에 비추었다.
He struck Peter on the side and woke him up.
그는 베드로의 옆구리를 쳐서 그를 깨웠다.
“Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.
"속히, 일어나라."고 그가 말했다. 그리고 쇠사슬이 베드로의 손목에서 풀렸다.

8. Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.”
그때 천사가 그에게 "너의 옷을 입고 신을 신어라."고 말했다.
And Peter did so.
그리고 베드로는 그렇게 했다.
“Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him. "너의 외투를 두르고 나를 따르라." 천사가 그에게 말했다.
