Wild Cherry 는 미국의 5인조 Disco 밴드로 밴드 명칭은 리더가 "감기약 이름"에서 따온 것이라고 하는데,

'R&B' 계열의 'Funk'와 'Disco'를 결합 시킨 당시 '흑인 밴드의 전유물(專有物)'이었던 'Funky Soul Music' 을

백인 밴드도 할 수 있다는 것을 보여준 대표적 그룹이었습니다..

" Play That Funky Music" 1976년에 발표해서 빌 보드 차트 상위에 무려18주간 올랐고, 그 중 3주간이나 1위를 차지한 곡.
