Bible Reading - Acts 15:1~10

15:1 Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers:

몇몇 남자(사람)들이 유대에서 안디옥으로 내려와서 형제들을 가르치고 있었다. 

"Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved."

"만일 너희가 모세가 가르쳤던 관습에 따라 할례를 받지 않는다면, 너희는 구원받을 수 없다."

15:2 This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them.

이것이 바울과 바나바가 그들과 심한(날카로운) 논쟁과 토론을 벌이게 했다.

So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.

그래서 바울과 바나바는 몇몇 다른 신자들과 함께 이 질문에 대해 예루살렘에 올라가서 사도들과 장로들을 만나도록 임명되었다.

15:3 The church sent them on their way, 교회는 그들을 배웅했고

and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. 그들은 페니키아와 사마리아를 지나면서 이방인들이 어떻게 개종했는지 이야기했다.

This news made all the brothers very glad. 이 소식이 모든 형제들을 대단히 기쁘게 했다.

15:4 When they came to Jerusalem, 그들이 예루살렘으로 갔을 때에

they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.

그들은 교회와 사도들, 그리고 장로들의 환영을 받았으며, 하나님께서 그들을 통해 행하신 모든 일을 그들에게 보고했다.

15:5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, 

그때 바리새파에 속했던 형제들 중에 몇 명이 일어나서 말했다.

"The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses."

이방인들이 할례를 받아야 하며 모세의 율법에 복종하도록 요구받아야 한다.

15:6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question.

사도들과 장로들은 이 문제를 논의하기 위해 모였다.

15:7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: 

많은 토론 후에, 베드로가 일어나서 그들에게 연설했다.

"Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

"형제들아, 너희들도 아다시피 하나님께서 오래전에 너희들 중에서 나를 택하셨다. 이는 이방인들이 내 입을 통해 복음의 말씀을 듣고 믿게 하려는 것이었다."

15:8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.

마음을 아시는 하나님께서 그가 우리에게 하셨던 것처럼 그들에게도 성령을 주심으로 그들을 받아들이셨다는 것을 보여 주셨다.

15:9 He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.

그가 믿음으로 그들의 마음을 정결케하셨기 때문에 우리와 그들 사이에 그는 구분을 만들지 않으셨다.

15:10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?

그렇다면 어찌하여 너희는 우리나 우리 조상들도 감당할 수 없었던 멍에를 제자들의 목에 씌워 하나님을 시험하려 하느냐?
