Year 2 participated in a sponsored swim to raise funds for the Manta Trust

As part of the Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry, the Year 2 students participated in a sponsored swim to raise funds for the Manta Trust. This also made a great connection with Earth Week.

In January, Jasmine from the Manta Trust joined Year 2 on a zoom call to speak to them about the work they do to support the manta rays. Year 2 decided they could take action by raising money to donate to the Manta Trust. Each student swam as many lengths as they could and have collected donations from family and friends.

Also, as part of #earthweek at #Uplands, Julian, from Reef Check Malaysia, spoke to the Year 5 and 6 students about corals, RCM, and what people can do to help life under water. He also made connections to other SDGs. This sparked some interest from students and some really good questions and wonderings took place.

There were so many amazing activities and events that happened during Earth Week.
