After years of planning and construction, Indonesia’s new capital city is set to be inaugurated on August 17, despite the fact that the site remains an active construction zone. The new city of Nusantara, on the island of Borneo, will replace Jakarta as the national capital, moving the seat of government about 800 miles away. The decades-long project covering hundreds of square miles will cost about $33 billion, according to estimates by the administration of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. The stated reasons for the move include alleviating overcrowding in Jakarta and moving the capital to a more central location within the Indonesian archipelago. The project has experienced many problems, including difficulty securing funding and criticism from advocacy groups concerned about the enormous impact on Indigenous communities and the environment. 🏰🏙️🌴공식적으로 신수도(IKN)인 누산타라는 인도네시아의 미래 수도로 2024년 8월 17일(인도네시아 독립 기념일)에 개장할 예정이다. 누산타라(Nusantara)는 1945년 독립 선언 이후 자카르타를 대체할 국가 수도이다. 현장은 보르네오섬의 동쪽 해안, 특히 동부 칼리만탄주에 위치하고 있다. 신수도는 구릉지와 숲, 자연만으로 둘러싸인 2,560㎢(990sq mi)의 면적을 차지할 것으로 예상된다. 토지 정리와 진입로 건설을 시작으로 2022년 7월 공사가 시작됐다.
