These instructions are for OWNERs of VW 1600 Sedans with the XP4-M Immobiliser Module installed. This model sedan has a socket in the dash above the radio where the fob is inserted momentarily to enable the engine to be started. 1. Remove the back seat and disconnect the battery. 2. Locate the XP4-M module ( connected along side of ECU and held in by a bracket). The module has a 10 pin connector and also 4 individual wires connected. 3. Disconnect only the 4 individual wires (marked on the back of the Module as J1, J2, J3, and J4). 4. Fabricate 1 heavy gauge(12-14ga wire) jumper wire with male spade lugs on each end to match connectors on J1 and J2. This will be placed on the ends of heavy/thick red/black wires that were connected to J1 and J2 and should be taped to prevent accidental shorting of wires. 5. Fabricate another jumper for the green/white stripe wires that were connected to J3 and J4. Connect these using the same type male spade lugs and tape them also for security. NOTE. The jumpers are to be placed on the wires, not the module. Make sure the 10pin wire connector is plugged into the module. 6. Reconnect the battery and test to see if the engine will start. Make sure ground lead at ECU is attached to chassis. 7. Reinstall module in brackets, secure all wiring to prevent pinching and shorting. Replace rear seat. 8. This instruction is intended as a temporary bypass for OWNERS, until replacement module and fobs Part # 1B0 937 050, and 1B0 937 040 can be obtained.
