NASA launches a manned mission around the moon for the first time since the end of the Apollo program. NASA's Artemis II, launched on April 1, 2026, is the first crewed mission of the Artemis program, sending four astronauts on a 10-day lunar flyby aboard the Orion spacecraft and SLS rocket. The mission tests critical life-support systems, manual piloting, and heat shields, taking humans deeper into space than ever before. Artemis II is NASA's 10-day crewed lunar flyby mission, marking the first human landing on the Moon in over 50 years. Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen are flying aboard the Orion spacecraft to test critical life-support systems and maneuverability for future lunar landings.
