Bible Reading - Acts 18:11~19

18:11 So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.

그래서 바울은 하나님의 말씀을 그들에게 가르치며 일년반 동안 머물렀다.

18:12 While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, 갈리오가 아가야의 총독이었을 때

the Jews made a united attack on Paul and brought him into court.

유대인들은 연합하여 바울을 공격하였고 그를 법정으로 데려왔다. 

18:13 "This man," they charged, "is persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law."

그들은 "이 사람은 율법에 어긋나는 방식으로 하나님을 경배하도록 사람들을 설득하고 있다"고 고발했다.

18:14 Just as Paul was about to speak, 바울이 막 말을 꺼내려던 순간,

Gallio said to the Jews, 갈리오가 유대인들에게 말했다.

"If you Jews were making a complaint about some misdemeanor or serious crime,

만약 너희 유대인들이 경범죄나 중범죄에 대해 불만을 제기한다면,

it would be reasonable for me to listen to you.

너희들 말을 듣는 것이 합리적일 것이다.

18:15 But since it involves questions about words and names and your own law--settle the matter yourselves.

하지만 그것이 말과 명칭, 그리고 너희들의 율법에 관한 문제라면, 그 문제는 너희들끼리 알아서 해결하라.

I will not be a judge of such things." 나는 그런 일에 재판관이 되지 않을 것이다. 

18:16 So he had them ejected from the court.

그래서 그는 그들을 법정으로부터 쫓아내었다.

18:17 Then they all turned on Sosthenes the synagogue ruler and beat him in front of the court.

그러자 그들은 모두 회당장 소스데네에게 달려들어 법정 앞에서 그를 구타했다.

But Gallio showed no concern whatever.

그러나 갈리오는 조금도 개의치 않았다.

18:18 Paul stayed on in Corinth for some time. 바울은 얼마 동안 고린도에 머물렀다.

Then he left the brothers and sailed for Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila. 

그 후 그는 형제들을 떠나 브리스길라와 아굴라를 데리고 시리아로 항해했다.

Before he sailed, 그가 항해하기 전에

he had his hair cut off at Cenchrea because of a vow he had taken.

그는 그의 맹세 때문에 겐그리아에서 그의 머리를 밀었다.

18:19 They arrived at Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. 

그들은 바울이 브리스길라와 아굴라를 떠난 에베소에 도착했다.

He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

그는 직접 회당에 들어가 유대인들과 변론했다.
