20. When they asked him to spend more time with them, he declined.
그들이 그에게 자신들과 더 많은 시간을 보내달라고 요청했을 때, 그는 거절했다.

21. But as he left, he promised, “I will come back if it is God’s will.”
그는 떠나며 "만약에 하나님의 뜻이라면 나는 돌아 올 것이다."라고 약속했다.
Then he set sail from Ephesus.
그리고 나서 그는 에베소에서 배 타고 떠났다.

22. When he landed at Caesarea, he went up to Jerusalem and greeted the church and then went down to Antioch.
가이사랴에 도착해서 그는 예루살렘으로 올라가 교회에 인사한 후에 안디옥으로 내려갔다.

23. After spending some time in Antioch, Paul set out from there and traveled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.
바울은 안디옥에서 얼마 동안 지낸 뒤 그곳을 떠나 갈라디아와 브루기아 지방을 두루 다니며 모든 제자들을 굳건하게 했다.

24. Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus.
한편 알렉산드리아 출신이며 아볼로라는 이름의 한 유대인이 에베소로 왔다.
He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures.
그는 성경에 대해 박식한 지식을 가진 학식있는 사람이었다.

25. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John.
그는 주의 도를 배워 열심으로 예수에 관하여 정확하게 말하며 가르쳤으나, 요한의 세례밖에 알지 못했다.

26. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue.
그는 회당에서 담대하게 말하기 시작했다.
When Priscilla and Aquila heard him,
브리스길라와 아굴라가 그에게 듣고서
they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.
그들은 그를 집으로 초대하여 하나님의 도를 더 정확하게 설명해 주었다.

27. When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers and sisters encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him.
아볼로가 아가야로 가기를 원하여. 형제자매들이 그를 격려하고 거기에 있는 제자들에게 그를 환영하도록 편지를 써주었다.
When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.
그가 도착했을 때에 그는 은혜로 믿는 자들에게 큰 도움이었다.

28. For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Messiah.
그는 공개 토론에서 예수께서 구세주이신 것을 성경을 통해 입증하여 유대인 반대자들에게 강력하게 반박했다.
