☕ A Quiet Morning Back Home — One Journey Ends, Another Begins

I returned home late last night after completing my journey to Bulgaria.

Perhaps because the memories of the seminar are still so fresh, I woke up naturally early this morning.

After a simple breakfast of oatmeal and one egg, I am enjoying a quiet cup of morning coffee while looking out over the sea and Oryukdo. ☕🌊

This year marked our 7th seminar in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria has hosted this event every year without fail. Continuing to organize a seminar year after year may sound simple, but it is not. It requires genuine passion, commitment, and a strong desire to continue learning.

This time in Borovets was particularly meaningful to me.

For the first time in Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu, I presented the KiMu Seminar at a deeper and more advanced level, exploring martial arts not simply through techniques, but through the integrated relationship of:

Skills · Philosophy · Healing

And now, I am beginning to see people in Bulgaria who may eventually understand and embody something I have spoken about for a long time:

From the Long Sword to the Short Needle. ⚔️ → 🪡

The size and form of the tool may change, but the fundamental principle does not.

Through the long sword, we learn to relax, connect, feel, follow, and move with the flow of energy. Eventually, the same principle can be expressed through something as small and delicate as a needle.

But this is a long journey.

There is no end to martial arts practice.

Although I am the one teaching, my own learning has never stopped. I continue to learn through teaching, and teacher and students continue walking this path together.

During this journey, an old saying came back to my mind:

For a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle.

But what does rich really mean here?

To me, it does not necessarily mean only someone who possesses a great deal of money.

A person can be rich in wealth, fame, status, or power. But one can also be too full of pride, accumulated knowledge, personal experience, fixed ideas, or an unwillingness to let go of what one already believes.

Sometimes, what we have accumulated becomes the very thing that prevents us from receiving something new.

When the cup is already full, there is little room for anything new to enter.

Perhaps this is why a young person, carrying fewer fixed ideas and preconceptions, can sometimes follow the invisible path more easily than someone with decades of experience.

Within martial arts, the journey from

Skills → Philosophy → Healing

is not a path that can be fully seen with the eyes.

The same words can therefore mean completely different things to someone who has experienced this invisible path and to someone who has not.

The difference can be as great as heaven and earth.

And even among those who have experienced it, understanding will differ enormously according to one's awareness, ability, practice, and depth of experience.

Perhaps that is another reason why martial arts practice has no end.

This morning, on my windowsill, sits a small miniature sword that I received many years ago in Bonn, Germany. Beside it is a little Beethoven music drum that plays a melody when I turn the handle. ㅋㅋ 🎶⚔️

Looking at them naturally reminds me of Germany, where I will return for another seminar in November.

But before Germany, Maryland, USA is waiting for me. 🇺🇸⚔️

Bulgaria → Korea → USA → Germany

The countries change.
The people I meet change.
The seminars continue.

But the path I walk remains one.

For this morning, however, there is no need to hurry.

I will simply enjoy a warm cup of coffee while looking out over the quiet sea of Oryukdo, allowing my body and mind a little time to recover before preparing for the next journey.

Next Stop — Maryland, USA. 🇰🇷🇺🇸⚔️

☕ Una mañana tranquila de regreso a casa — Termina un viaje y comienza otro

Anoche regresé tarde a casa después de completar mi viaje y seminario en Bulgaria.

Quizás porque los recuerdos del seminario todavía están muy presentes, esta mañana me desperté temprano de forma natural.

Después de un desayuno sencillo de avena y un huevo, disfruto tranquilamente de mi café de la mañana contemplando el mar y Oryukdo. ☕🌊

Este año celebramos nuestro séptimo seminario en Bulgaria.

Bulgaria ha organizado este evento cada año sin faltar una sola vez. Mantener un seminario año tras año puede parecer sencillo, pero no lo es. Requiere verdadera pasión, compromiso y un profundo deseo de seguir aprendiendo.

Esta vez, el seminario en Borovets tuvo para mí un significado especial.

Por primera vez en Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu, presenté el Seminario de KiMu a un nivel más profundo y avanzado, explorando las artes marciales no solamente desde las técnicas, sino desde la relación integrada entre:

Técnica · Filosofía · Sanación

Y ahora comienzo a ver en Bulgaria personas que, con el tiempo, podrán comprender y experimentar algo de lo que he hablado durante muchos años:

De la espada larga a la aguja corta. ⚔️ → 🪡

El tamaño y la forma de la herramienta pueden cambiar, pero el principio fundamental no cambia.

A través de la espada larga aprendemos a relajarnos, conectarnos, sentir, seguir y movernos con el flujo de la energía. Con el tiempo, ese mismo principio puede expresarse mediante algo tan pequeño y delicado como una aguja.

Pero este es un camino largo.

La práctica de las artes marciales no tiene fin.

Aunque yo sea quien enseña, mi propio aprendizaje nunca se detiene. Continúo aprendiendo mientras enseño, y maestro y alumnos seguimos recorriendo juntos este camino.

Durante este viaje volvió a mi mente un antiguo dicho:

Para que un hombre rico entre en el Reino de los Cielos es como si un camello pasara por el ojo de una aguja.

Pero ¿qué significa realmente ser rico?

Para mí, no significa necesariamente poseer mucho dinero.

Una persona puede ser rica en dinero, fama, posición social o poder. Pero también puede estar demasiado llena de orgullo, conocimientos acumulados, experiencias personales, ideas fijas o de una incapacidad para soltar aquello que ya cree saber.

A veces, precisamente aquello que hemos acumulado se convierte en el obstáculo que nos impide recibir algo nuevo.

Cuando la taza ya está llena, queda poco espacio para que entre algo nuevo.

Quizás por eso una persona joven, con menos prejuicios e ideas fijas, puede a veces seguir este camino invisible con mayor facilidad que alguien que posee décadas de experiencia.

Dentro de las artes marciales, el camino que conduce de

Técnica → Filosofía → Sanación

no es un camino que pueda verse completamente con los ojos.

Por eso, las mismas palabras pueden tener significados completamente diferentes para quien ha experimentado este camino invisible y para quien nunca lo ha experimentado.

La diferencia puede ser tan grande como la distancia entre el cielo y la tierra.

E incluso entre quienes lo han experimentado, la comprensión puede variar enormemente según la percepción, la capacidad, la práctica y la profundidad de la experiencia de cada persona.

Quizás esta sea otra razón por la cual la práctica de las artes marciales nunca termina.

Esta mañana, sobre el alféizar de mi ventana, está una pequeña espada en miniatura que recibí como regalo hace muchos años en Bonn, Alemania. A su lado hay un pequeño tambor musical con la imagen de Beethoven que toca una melodía cuando giro la manivela. ㅋㅋ 🎶⚔️

Al contemplarlos, naturalmente recuerdo Alemania, adonde regresaré para otro seminario en noviembre.

Pero antes de Alemania, me espera Maryland, Estados Unidos. 🇺🇸⚔️

Bulgaria → Corea → Estados Unidos → Alemania

Cambian los países.
Cambian las personas que encuentro.
Los seminarios continúan.

Pero el camino que recorro sigue siendo uno.

Esta mañana, sin embargo, no hay necesidad de apresurarse.

Simplemente disfrutaré de una taza de café caliente mientras contemplo el tranquilo mar de Oryukdo, dando a mi cuerpo y a mi mente un pequeño descanso antes de comenzar a preparar el próximo viaje.

Próxima parada — Maryland, Estados Unidos. 🇰🇷🇺🇸⚔️
