Bible Reading - Acts 21:31~40

21:31 While they were trying to kill him, 그들이 그를 죽이려고 시도하고 있는 동안에 

news reached the commander of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar. 로마 군단의 사령관에게 예루살렘 전 도시가 폭동 속에 있다는 소식을 들었다.

21:32 He at once took some officers and soldiers and ran down to the crowd. 

그는 당장에 몇몇 관원들과 병사들을 데리고 군중에게로 달려 내려갔다.

When the rioters saw the commander and his soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

폭도들이 사령관과 그의 병사들을 보고서 바울을 때리는 것을 멈추었다.

21:33 The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. 

그 사령관이 올라와 그를 체포하고서 두 사슬 사이에 그를 묶으라고 명령했다. 

Then he asked who he was and what he had done.

그래서 그는 그가 누구이며 그가 무엇을 했는지 물었다.

21:34 Some in the crowd shouted one thing and some another, 

군중들 속에 있던 몇 사람들은 한가지 것을 몇 사람들은 다른 것을 외쳤다.

and since the commander could not get at the truth because of the uproar, 

그 천부장은 소란 때문에 진실을  알 수 없어서

he ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks. 바울을 병영 안으로 데려가도록 명령했다.

21:35 When Paul reached the steps, 바울이 계단에 도달하였을 때에 

the violence of the mob was so great he had to be carried by the soldiers.

폭도들의 폭력이 너무나 거세어서 그는 군인들에게 실려 가야만 했다.

21:36 The crowd that followed kept shouting, "Away with him!"

따라 다녔던 군중들은 "그를 끌어내라."고 계속 외쳐대었다.

21:37 As the soldiers were about to take Paul into the barracks, 

그 병사들은 바울을 병영 안으로 막 데려가려고 했을 때,

he asked the commander, 그는 천부장에게 물었다.

"May I say something to you?" 내가 당신에게 무엇인가 말해도 되는가?

"Do you speak Greek?" he replied. "당신은 그리스어를 말하는가?"하고 그가 대답했다.

21:38 "Aren't you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand terrorists out into the desert some time ago?"

당신이 얼마 전 반란을 일으켜 4천 명의 테러리스트를 이끌고 사막으로 나갔던 그 이집트인이 아닌가?

21:39 Paul answered, 바울이 대답했다.

"I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no ordinary city. 

나는 길리기아 다소 출신의 유대인이며, 평범하지 않은 도시의 시민이다.

Please let me speak to the people." 제발 내가 사람들에게 말하게 해달라.

21:40 Having received the commander's permission, 천부장의 허가를 받고서 

Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd.

바울은 계단에서 일어서서 군중들에게 손짓을 하였다.

When they were all silent, he said to them in Aramaic: 

그들이 전부 조용해지자, 그는 아람 방언으로 그들에게 말했다.
