22:1 "Brothers and fathers, listen now to my defense."

형제들과 아버지들이여, 이제 저의 변론을 들어 보십시오."

22:2 When they heard him speak to them in Aramaic, they became very quiet. 

그들은 그가 아람 방언으로 그들에게 말하는 것을 듣고서 아주 조용해졌다.

Then Paul said: 그때 바울이 말하기를 

22:3 "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up(자라다.) in this city. 

나는 길리기아 다소성에서 태어난 유대인이지만 이 도시에서 자랐습니다.

Under Gamaliel I was thoroughly trained in the law of our fathers and was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.

나는 가말리엘 밑에서 우리 조상들의 율법에 대해 철저히 교육을 받았으며, 오늘날 여러분이 그러하듯이 하나님을 향해 그토록 열심이었습니다.

22:4 I persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison, 
22:5 as also the high priest and all the Council can testify.

대제사장과 모든 공회도 증언할 수 있듯이 나는 이 길을 따르는 자들을 박해하여 죽음에 이르게 하였고, 남자와 여자를 가리지 않고 체포하여 감옥에 가두었습니다.

I even obtained letters from them to their brothers in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.

심지어 나는 그들에게서 다메섹에 있는 형제들에게 보내는 편지까지 받아 가지고, 그곳으로 가서 그 사람들을 포박해(죄수들로서) 예루살렘으로 데려와 처벌받게 하려 했습니다.

22:6 "About noon as I came near Damascus, 대략 정오쯤에 내가 다메섹에 갔을 때에 

suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me.

갑자기 하늘로부터 밝은 빛이 내 주변에 비추었습니다.

22:7 I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me,

나는 땅에 엎드러졌고 그리고 내게 말씀하시는 한 음성을 들었습니다.

'Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?' 사울아, 사울아, 왜 너는 나를 핍박하느냐?

22:8 "'Who are you, Lord?' I asked. "당신은 누구이십니까?"하고 내가 물었습니다. 

"'I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,' he replied.

"나는 네가 핍박하고 있는 나사렛 예수다."라고 그가 대답했습니다.

22:9 My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me.

나의 동료들도 그 빛을 보았으나 그들은 내게 말씀하고 있는 그의 음성을 이해하지 못했습니다.

22:10 "'What shall I do, Lord?' I asked. "주여, 내가 무엇을 할까요?"하고 내가 물었습니다.

"'Get up,' the Lord said, 'and go into Damascus.

"일어나서 다메섹으로 들어가라."고 주님께서 말씀하셨습니다.

There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do.'

그곳에서 네가 해야 할 모든 일을 듣게 될 것이다.
