Bible Reading - Acts 22:21~30

22:21 "Then the Lord said to me, 그때 주님께서 내게 말씀하시기를

'Go; I will send you far away to the Gentiles.'" 가라. 내가 너를 멀리 이방인들에게로 보낼 것이다.

22:22 The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. 군중들이 그가 이것을 말하기까지 바울에게 들었다.

Then they raised their voices and shouted,그때 그들은 목소리를 높여 외쳤다.

"Rid the earth of him! He's not fit to live!"

"그를 이 세상에서 없애버려라! 그는 살아갈 자격이 없다!"

22:23 As they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging(내던지며) dust into the air,

그들이 소리를 지르며 외투를 벗어 던지고 먼지를 공중으로 흩날렸을 때,

22:24 the commander ordered Paul to be taken into the barracks. 

그 천부장은 바울을 막사 안으로 데려가도록 명령했다.

He directed that he be flogged and questioned in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this.

그는 사람들이 왜 자신에게 그토록 소리를 질러대는지 알아내기 위해 그를 채찍질하고 심문하라고 ​​지시했다.

22:25 As they stretched him out to flog him, 그들이 그에게 채찍질하려고 그를 쭉 뻗혔을 때에 

Paul said to the centurion standing there, 바울이 거기에 서있는 백부장에게 말했다.

"Is it legal for you to flog a Roman citizen who hasn't even been found guilty?"

아직 유죄 판결조차 받지 않은 로마 시민을 채찍질하는 것이 합법인가?

22:26 When the centurion heard this, he went to the commander and reported it. 

백부장을 이것을 듣고서 천부장에게 가서 보고했다.

"What are you going to do?" he asked."당신은 무엇을 할 것입니까?''하고 그가 물었다.

 "This man is a Roman citizen." 이 사람은 로마 시민입니다.

22:27 The commander went to Paul and asked, 천부장이 바울에게 가서 물었다.

"Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?" "Yes, I am," he answered.

"내게 말하라. 너는 로마 시민인가?" "그렇다. 나는 로마 시민이다.'하고 그가 대답했다.

22:28 Then the commander said, "I had to pay a big price for my citizenship." 

그때 그 천부장이 " 나는 시민권을 얻기 위해 아주 큰 댓가를 지불해야만 했다."

"But I was born a citizen," Paul replied. 바울은 "그러나 나는 로마 시민으로 태어났다."라고 대답했다.

22:29 Those who were about to question him withdrew immediately.

그에게 질문하려던 사람들은 즉시 물러섰다.

The commander himself was alarmed when he realized that he had put Paul, a Roman citizen, in chains.

천부장은 자신이 로마 시민인 바울에게 쇠사슬을 채웠다는 사실을 깨닫고는 깜짝 놀랐다.

22:30 The next day, since the commander wanted to find out exactly why Paul was being accused by the Jews,

다음날, 천부장은 바울이 유대인들에게 고발당한 정확한 이유를 알아내고 싶었기 때문에,

he released him and ordered the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin to assemble.

그는 그를 풀어 주고 대제사장들과 모든 산헤드린 공회원들에게 모이라고 명령했다.

Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them.

그때  그는 바울을 데려와서 그들 앞에 서게했다.
