Mara Montalbano: The Peruvian government has closed Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail indefinitely due to protests in the country which stem from the expulsion of President Pedro Castillo. He was ousted and imprisoned after he tried to dissolve congress But the people who support him are now revolting against current president Dinana Boyarde. The situation is also affecting other services like transportation and food deliveries. Stranded tourists seem to be taking it all in stride.
Angelica Avalos: We feel at home here we also suffer the same social injustices. We understand that we're not tourists who wonder why everything is closed. We have also experienced it firsthand in our own country.
Mara Montalbano: it sounds like a little civil unrest isn't enough to ruin their vacation.
