Man charged in Cheque Fraud Investigation (Toronto Police)

It is alleged that:

between October 18, 2022 to February 23, 2023, the accused travelled between Niagara Falls, Waterloo, Kingston, Toronto and Edmonton targeting international students from Korea

• the accused frequented libraries and educational institutions to befriend his victims
• the accused would tell his victims that he is from out-of-town and lost his wallet and needs funds to get home or pay for accommodations
• the accused told his victims that he would have a family member deposit funds into their accounts and in turn have victims withdraw cash for him
• the accused issued cheques to victims with non sufficient funds and the victims sustained losses
