✞ ✟☦️📋교황 콘클라베(papal conclave)는 추기경단이 로마 주교, 즉 교황을 임명하기 위해 소집하는 회의이다. 가톨릭 신자들은 교황을 성 베드로의 사도적 계승자이자 가톨릭 교회의 지상 수장으로 여긴다. 콘클라베는 특정 국가 원수를 선출하는 데 있어 가장 오랜 역사를 자랑하는 역사적 방식을 가지고 있으며, 이 방식은 오늘날까지 이어지고 있다. 1268년에서 1271년 사이의 공위 기간과 1274년 제2차 리옹 공의회에서 교황 그레고리오 10세가 추기경 선거권을 가진 추기경들을 '열쇠가 달린'(cum clave, 라틴어로 '열쇠를 가진') 격리 시설에 가두고 새 교황이 선출될 때까지 출국을 금지하는 칙령을 내린 이후 정치적 간섭에 대한 우려가 제기되어 개혁이 이루어졌다. 현재 콘클라베는 바티칸 시국 사도궁 시스티나 성당에서 개최된다. 사도 시대부터 1059년까지 교황은 다른 주교들처럼 교구 성직자와 평신도의 만장일치로 선출되었다. 1059년에는 추기경단이 유일한 선거인단으로 지정되면서 선거인단이 더욱 명확하게 정의되었다. 그 이후로 선거 절차의 다른 세부사항들이 발전했다. 1970년 교황 바오로 6세는 80세 미만의 추기경으로 선거인을 제한했다. 요한 바오로 2세 교황이 칙령(Universi Dominici gregis)에서 제정한 현행 선거 절차는 2007년과 2013년에 교황 베네딕토 16세에 의해 약간 수정되었다. 새 교황을 선출하려면 2/3 이상의 찬성이 필요하다.
