제1장.上經(상경) 21訓(훈) 157事(사).

Chapter 1. Upper Scripture : 21 Lessons, 157 Deeds.

제1 강령 성(誠).....정성.....第1事(제1사)
The 1st principle : Sincerity (誠성, Seong)... Devotion... The First Deed.

제1체 敬神(경신).....지극하게 공경함.....第2事
The 1st Body : Reverence for God(敬神 경신 - Gyeong -sin)

경(敬)이란 마음의 지극함이 다하도록 하는 것이다.

 [Reverence (敬 경- Gyeong) means to reach the absolute extremity of one′s heart and mind.]

신(神)은 하나님(天神)이시다.

 [God(神신- sin) refers to the Heavenly God(天神 천신 - Cheon -sin).]

해와 달과 별들과 바람과 비와 번개와 천둥은 형체가 있는 하늘이며,
물체도 없고보이지 않으며 소리도 없고 들리지 않는 것은 형체가 없는 하늘이다.

 [The sun, Moon, stars, wind, rain, lightning, and thunder represent the Heaven with Form.

   However, that which has no physical substance, cannot be seen,

   and has no sound that can be  heard is the Heaven  without Form.]

형체가 없는 하늘이야말로 하늘의 하늘이니 하늘의 하늘은 곧 하나님이시다.

  [ This Heaven without Form is the "Heaven of Heavens," 

     and the Heaven of Heavens is none other than God.]

인간이 하나님을 공경하지 않는다면 하나님이 인간에게 응하지 않으시니
이는 풀과 나무가 비와 이슬과 서리와 눈의 구제를 받지 못함과도 같은 것이다.

[ If a human being does not revere God, God will not respond to them.

  This is akin to grass and trees failing to receive the life- sustaining salvation of rain,

   dew, frost, aand snow.]

  ● 敬者는 盡至心也요 神은 天神也라.(경자는 진지심야요 신은 천신야라.)

       (Reverence is the exhaustion of the heart′s sincerity, god is the Heavenly God.) 

    ● 日月星辰과 風雨雷霆은 是有形之天이요.(일월성진과 풍우뢰정은 시유형지천이요.)

       (The sen, moon, stars, wind, rain, and thunder are the Heaven that has form.)

    ● 無物不視하며 無聲不聽은 是無形之天이라.(무물불시하며 무성불청은 시무형지천이라.)

       (That which is invisble yet sees all, and is silent yet hears all, is the Heaven without Form.)

    ● 無形之天은 謂之天之天이라 하나니.(무형지천은 위지천지천이 라 하나니.)

       (The Heaven without form is called the heaven of Heavens.)

    ● 天之天은  卽天神也라 人不敬天이면.(천지천은 즉천신야라 인불경천이면.)

       (The Heaven of Heavens is precisely God. If man does not revere Heaven.)

    ● 天不應人하야 如草本之不經雨露霜雪이니라(천불응인 하야 여초본지불경우로상설이니라).

       (Heaven does not respond to man, jist as plants cannot survive without rain,

        dew, frost, and snow.)

    ※ Key Concepts.(주요 개념).

        ● Heaven of Heavens(天之天,천지천) : 눈에 보이는 형상(날씨, 별 등)을 넘어선

            근원적인 존재이자 우주의 지고한 의식을 뜻합니다.

        ● Reverence(敬,경) : 단순히 '공경한다'는 뜻을 넘어, 

            자신의 모든 진심을 다하는(盡至心,진지심) 영성적인 태도를 강조합니다.

        ● Response(應,응) : 인간이 지성을 다할 때 하늘도 그에 응답한다는

            상호작용의 원리를 설명합니다.

 [ Interpretation, 풀이]

알기 쉽게 태풍을 예로 들어 보자.

 {To make this easier to understand, Iet′s take a typhoon as an example.}

형체가 없는 하늘인 무형지천(無形之天)은 태풍의 눈이며,

 { The Heaven without Form(無形之天 무형지천,- Muhyeong - ji - cheon)

    is like the eye of the typhoon,} 

형체가 있는 하늘인 유형지천(有形之天)은 보고 느낄 수 있는 태풍이 된다.

 { while the Heaven with Form(有形之天 유형지천, - Yuhyeong - ji - cheon)

    is the actual typhoon that we can see and feel.}

태풍의 눈이 형체가 없는 가운데 형체가 있는 태풍 전체의 중심이되는 것처럼
무형지천은 유형지천의 중심이 된다.

 { just as the eye of the typhoon―which has no substance― is the center 

   of the Heaven without Form is the center of the Heaven with Form.}

모든 형체가 있는 하늘의 중심에 형체 없는 하늘이 있으며 그 곳을 하늘의 하늘(天之天)이라 하고

하늘의 하늘에 계신분을 하나님(天神)이라고 정의를 내리고 있다.

 { At the center of everything that has form in called the

  "Heaven of Heavens" (天之天,천지천), and the one who resides in this Heaven

    of  Heavens is defined as God(天神 천신, - cheon - sin).

이 내용을 바꾸어 설명하면 불교에서의 공(空)의 공(空), 유교에서의 이(理)의 이(理),
도교에서의 무(無)의 무(無)가 곧 하나님이라는 말이 된다.

 {To explain this in different terms :

   It is the Emptiness(空 공, - Gong) of Emptiness in Buddhism,

   The Principle(理 이, - I) of Principles in Confucianism,

    And the Nothingness(無 무 - Mu) of  Nothingness in  Taoism.

    All of thesse refer to God.}

즉 불교의 비로자나불 또는 대일여래와 도교의 옥황상제, 기독교의 여호와,이슬람의 알라 등의 

절대신은 이름이 다를 따름이지 모두 삼라만상의 중심인 하늘의 하늘로 설정됨에 예외가 없다.

 { In other words, whether it is Vairocana(the Great Sun Buddha) in Buddhism,

   the Jade Emperor in Taoism, Jehovah in Christianty,

   or Allah in lslam―these are simply different names for the same Supreme Being.

   There is no exception to the fact that they are all established as the

  " Heaven of Heavens," the center of creation(Sam- ra - man -sang)}

굳이 전세계의 모든 종교의 경전을 읽지 않아도 그내용은

우리말``하나님(一神또는天神) 의 개념 안에 포함된다는 것을 알 수 있다.

  { Even without reading the scriptures of every religion in the world,

     we can understand that their core meanings are all encompassed

     within our concept of "Hananim" (God/ The One Spirit).}

인불경천 천불응인(人不敬天 天不應人)은 인간이 하늘을 공경하지 않을때
하늘이 인간에게 응할리 없다는 내용.

 { "If man does not revere Heaven, Heaven will not respond to man"

     (人不敬天 天不應人, 인불경천 천불응인)

     This means that when human beings fail to show reverence 

     toward Heaven, there is no reason for Heaven to respond or

      resonate with them.}

인간이 하늘을 공경하지 않으면 하늘이 인간에게 응하지 않는다.

 { If man does not honor Heaven, Heaven does not interact with man.}
