Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Joshimath (1890 M)
Begin your Garuda Dome expedition by arriving at Joshimath. Take this day to acclimate to the altitude and make any last-minute preparations for the trek. Enjoy the scenic surroundings and get ready for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Joshimath – Jumma – Ruing (2800 m) Drive 45 km
Embark on a picturesque drive from Joshimath to Jumma, covering a distance of 45 km. From Jumma, commence your trek to Ruing at an elevation of 2800 meters. Settle into your camp at Ruing, surrounded by the beauty of the Himalayan landscapes.
Day 3: Ruing – Dronagiri (3500 m) Trek 8 km
Start your trek from Ruing to Dronagiri, covering a distance of 8 km. Traverse through diverse terrains, including lush forests and meadows. Arrive at Dronagiri, where you’ll set up camp at an elevation of 3500 meters.
Day 4: Dronagiri – Langatoli (3800 m) Trek 4 km
Continue your trek from Dronagiri to Langatoli, covering a distance of 4 km. The trail may lead you through rocky landscapes and alpine meadows. Set up camp at Langatoli and enjoy the tranquility of the high-altitude surroundings.
Day 5: Langatoli – Garud Base Camp (4100 m) Trek 10 km
Embark on a trek from Langatoli to the Garud Base Camp, covering a distance of 10 km. As you ascend, you’ll witness the changing landscapes and the majestic views around you. Set up camp at the Garud Base Camp at an elevation of 4100 meters.
Day 6: Garud Base Camp – Bagini Glacier – Rishikund (4800 m) – Garud Base Camp Trek 8 km
Explore the Bagini Glacier and reach Rishikund, a freshwater lake at an altitude of 4800 meters. Take in the breathtaking views of the glacier and the surrounding peaks. Return to the Garud Base Camp for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Garud Base Camp – Camp 1 (5000 m)
Ascend to Camp 1 at an elevation of 5000 meters. This acclimatization day allows you to prepare for the summit attempt. Rest and hydrate as you soak in the high-altitude atmosphere.
Day 8: Start for Summit Attempt at 1 AM – Summit Garud Dome (6000 m) – Back to Garud Base Camp
Embark on the summit attempt in the early hours. Reach the summit of Garuda Dome at 6000 meters and then descend back to the Garud Base Camp, celebrating your achievement. This challenging day requires endurance and determination.
Day 9: Garud Base Camp – Ruing Road Head – Joshimath (22 km/7 hrs)
Descend from the Garud Base Camp to Ruing Road Head and drive back to Joshimath, covering a distance of 22 km in approximately 7 hours. Rejoice in the successful expedition and unwind in Joshimath.
Day 10: Buffer Day
Keep a buffer day for any unforeseen circumstances or to allow for additional exploration. This day provides flexibility in case of weather challenges or other unexpected events.
