▣ Six in the third line : The army may carry corpses in the cate; misfortune.
[Explanation]
Six in the third line[六三,육삼] means that the army might carry corpese in the cart,
so it will be unfortunate / disastrous.
[Commentary]
Even though there is a commander-in-chief named [Nine in the second line(九二,구이)],
someone who merely asserts their higher position above [Nine in the second line(九二,구이)]
has taken command, leading to massive casualties for our army and carrying for our army
and carrying corpese back in carts
Therefore, there is no achievement to speak of [大无功也,대무공야].
Wang Bi also commented on the third line, stating that being a Yin(陰,음) line occupying
a Yang(陽,양) position makes it improper(不正,부정), and since it is not in the center,
it lacks balance(不中,부중).
Furthemore, this position rides above the strong general [Nine in the second line(九二,구이)] ;
there is no one who responds even if it advances, and nothing to protect even if it retreats.
Thus, employing such a person in military affairs will inevitably result in carrying corpses
back in carts.
As a historical precedrnt, we look at the story of King Wu.
According to Sima Qian's Records of thr Grand Historian(사기본기, Shiji- Annals),
King Wu raised an army in the year King Wen died(1135 BC) and advansed to Mengjin(孟津,맹진)
carrying King Wen's ancestral tablet made of wood in his central chariot.
At this time, Boyi and Shuqi came to see the Zhou kingdom, held the reins of King wu's horse,
and remonstreted : "Your father has passed away, and going to war brfore completing
the maurning period―how can this be called filial piety?"
Thus, they urged him to stop the expedition.
However, the military strategist Grand Duke Wang(Taigong Wang) stayed the soldiers and said,
"These are righteous men," listening to their words and halting the troop deployment.
In this way, some interpret '輿尸(여시)' above as setting off to war carrying an ancestral
tablet (神主,신주).
Cheng Yi interpreted '輿尸(여시)' as "Multiple people asserting command,"
while Zhu Xi viewed it as "returning with corpses loaded on carts."
This applies when the Shi hexagram(師卦,사괘 - Army) changes into the Jipung-seung
Hexagram(地風升卦,지풍승괘 / Hexagram 46).
