What happens when teachers stop waiting for the perfect digital tool and start building their own?
In the recent FOBISIA webinar, “From Consumers to Creators: Empowering Learner Agency through Vibe Coding,” Ms. Siti Zaleha and Ms. Wenyi Chu from Nexus International School Malaysia shared how they turned real classroom needs into working AI tools.
Ms. Siti created the Maths Hub AI Assistant to support Mathematics learning, while Ms. Wenyi developed ECHO: TOK Tuesday. Same technology. Two subjects. Two very different outcomes.
Their work shows that vibe coding is not about replacing teachers or creating one solution for every classroom. It lowers the technical barrier so teachers can build around their subject expertise and their learners’ actual needs.
Educators from Hong Kong, Brunei and Thailand joined the live session, with the presentation and practical cheat sheet now being shared across the wider FOBISIA community.
Ms. Siti and Ms. Wenyi are keen to continue this conversation with schools, conferences and professional learning communities exploring teacher agency, learner agency and purposeful AI use. Because AI may be the booster, but teachers must remain in the driver’s seat.
