나는 친구와 함께 여행을 하고 있었는데 그녀는 좀 지쳐 보였습니다.

My friend and I were traveling together,

and she seemed a bit frazzled.

비행장에 도착했을 때에

그녀는 신분증을 미리 쉽게 꺼낼 수 있도록 준비하는 것을 잊고 있었고,

예약 확인번호도 찾을 수 없었습니다.

When we got to the airport,

she forgot to have her identification readily available

and couldn’t fin-d her reservation confirmation number.

항공사 직원은 미소 지으며 참을성 있게 기다리더니

그녀가 셀프체크인하는 것을 도와주었습니다.

The ticket agent waited patiently, smiled,

and then helped her at the “self” check-in.

항공권을 발급받고 난 후에 그녀는

“다음은 어디로 가야 되지요?”라고 물었습니다.

After receiving her ticket, she asked,

“Where do we go next?”

그 직원은 다시 미소를 띠면서 나를 가리키며

“친구 분과 함께 계시면 됩니다.”라고 했습니다.

The agent smiled again, pointed at me, and said to her,

“Stay close to your friend.”

삶이 고달플 때 친구와 함께 있으라는 것은

우리 모두에게 좋은 충고가 될 수 있습니다.

That can be good advice for all of us

when our lives get frazzled—stay close to your friends.

예수님이 우리의 가장 좋은 친구이긴 하지만

우리는 또한 이 세상에서 살아가는데 도움을 주는

믿음의 친구들과 사귀는 것도 필요합니다.

Although Jesus is our best friend,

we also need relationships with fellow believers

to help us survive in this life.

베드로는 그의 첫 번째 서신을 신앙때문에 고통을 받는,

그래서 서로를 필요로 했던 믿는 이들에게 보냈습니다.

In his first epistle,

Peter was writing to believers who needed one another

because they were suffering for their faith.

베드로전서 4장의 그리 길지 않는 문장 속에 “뜨거운 사랑”과, 기도,

그리고 호의를 서로 주고받는 것이 필요하다는 것을 언급했습니다(7-9절).

In a few short sentences in chapter 4,

Peter mentioned the need to receive and give

“fervent love,” prayer, and hospitality.

그는 또한 성도들이 서로를 돌보는 데 있어

각자 받은 영적인 은사를 사용하는 것도 필요하다고 하였습니다(10절).

He also included the need for believers

to use their spiritual gifts to minister to one another.

또 다른 구절에서는 우리로 하여금

하나님께 받는 위로로써 서로 서로를 위로하도록 권면하며(고후 1:3-4),

사랑으로 서로 덕을 세우기를(살전 5:11) 권면했습니다.

In other passages, we’re encouraged to comfort each other

with the comfort we’ve been given by God and

to build each other up in love.

삶이 힘들어지고 삶에 지칠 때

우리의 믿음의 친구들과 함께 하면 어려움을 극복하는데 도움이 될 것입니다.

When life gets difficult and we get frazzled,

staying close to our Christian friends will help us to get through.

1 Peter 베드로전서 4:7-11  

[벧전] 4:7	만물의 마지막이 가까이 왔으니 그러므로 너희는 정신을 차리고 근신하여 기도하라 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.
[벧전] 4:8	무엇보다도 뜨겁게 서로 사랑할지니 사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮느니라 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
[벧전] 4:9	서로 대접하기를 원망 없이 하고 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
[벧전] 4:10	각각 은사를 받은 대로 하나님의 여러 가지 은혜를 맡은 선한 청지기 같이 서로 봉사하라 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
[벧전] 4:11	만일 누가 말하려면 하나님의 말씀을 하는 것 같이 하고 누가 봉사하려면 하나님이 공급하시는 힘으로 하는 것 같이 하라 이는 범사에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 영광을 받으시게 하려 함이니 그에게 영광과 권능이 세세에 무궁하도록 있느니라 아멘 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

When our friends encounter trials, We can help them if we’re near; Some may need a word of comfort, Others just a listening ear. Staying close to godly friends helps us to stay close to God.

친구가 시련을 당하고 있을 때 우리가 가까이 있음으로도 도움이 된다네 어떤 친구는 위로의 말이 필요하고 다른 친구는 들어주는 것으로 족하다네 믿음의 친구들과 가까이 지내는 것은 하나님을 가까이 하는 데 도움이 된다.
