타고난 天性

Innate Nature

오동나무는 천 년을 묵어도 그 속에 노래를 담을 수 있고,

매 화는 평생 북풍의 한설에 시달려도 향기를 팔지 않으며,

태양은 천만년 달궈도 원래 모양 그대로입니다.

A paulownia tree can hold a song even after a thousand years,
a plum blossom endures the harsh north winds of winter all its life,

yet its fragrance remains unchanged, and the sun,
though scorched by ten million years, retains its original form.

이렇듯 사람도 누구나 그 사람만이 가지고 있는 마음씨가

있답니다. 이를 '天性' 이라고 하지요. 부족 해도 남을

도우려고 하는 사람, 바쁜 중에도 순서를 양보하는 사람,

어떠한 어려움도 꿋꿋하게 이겨 내는 사람,

Just like this, everyone has a unique quality of character. This is called 

"innate nature." People who try to help others even when they lack something,

people who give up their turn even when they're busy,

people who steadfastly overcome any difficulty.

어려울 때 생각만 해도 위로가 되는 사람, 남의 허물을 감

싸주고, 남의 부족한 점을 고운 눈길로 봐주는 사람,

자기의 몸을 태워 빛을 밝히는 촛불과도 같이 상대를

배려하고 도움을 주는 사람,

A person who brings comfort just by thinking about them in times of need, 

a person who forgives others' faults and looks kindly upon their shortcomings,
a person who is considerate and helpful to others,
like a candle that burns its own body to illuminate.

오랜 세월 인연을 유지하고 깨뜨리지 않는 사람, '인생'을

진솔하게 함께 하는 사람은 잘 익은 과일 향이 나는

사람입니다. 그런 마음, 그런 향기, 그런 진실을 서로 나누면

향 수를 아니 뿌려도, 촛불을 켜지 않아도, 넉넉한 마음과

진한 과일 향이 풍기는 그런 사람이 될 수 있습니다.

A person who maintains a long-term bond and never breaks it, 

a person who shares "life" with sincerity, is a person who smells like ripe fruit.
 If you share that kind of heart, that kind of fragrance, that kind of truth,
even without spraying perfume or lighting candles,

you can become someone with a generous heart and
a person who exudes the rich fragrance of fruit.

천성이 곱고 바른 사람들은 날마다 즐겁고 행복한 일만

 가득 하실 것입니다. 오늘도 행복 가득한 좋은 날!
