< A Principle-Based Interpretation of the Peace Messages:
(Adam and Eve as the Body of God, and
the Marriage of Adam and Eve as God’s Own Marriage) >
1. 1. Citation from the Peace Messages.
In other words,
the marriage of the perfected Adam and Eve would have become God’s own marriage.
Adam would have been God, and Eve would have been God; and
Adam and Eve would have become the body of God…
(Peace Messages, p. 103, upper 9 – lower 10)
2. A Principle-Based Interpretation of the Above Passage.
First, let us examine the existence of God as recorded and testified in the Scriptures.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…”
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
According to these biblical testimonies,
God exists as a spiritual being, and
this spiritual being is called God’s Original Being.
The external form and likeness of God’s Original Being—
who exists as a spiritual reality—
is expressed through the form and likeness of human beings, male and female.
Therefore,
Adam and Eve—had they not fallen— would have stood in the position of God’s image-body.
All things of creation, on the other hand,
stand in the position of God’s symbolic body, and
simultaneously in the position of humanity’s image-body.
The image-level completed beings of God’s Original Being—
the completed individual embodiments of God’s character and truth—
are human beings.
The symbolic-level completed beings—
the symbolic embodiments of God’s character and truth—
are all things of creation.
Thus:
Human beings become the image-level substantial form of God.
All things become the symbolic substantial form of God, or
the image-level substantial form of human beings.
A completed human being becomes the holy temple in which God dwells.
God is the absolute subject, and
human beings are the relative objects.
God is the Parent, and human beings are the children.
Therefore,
even if a human being—who exists as a created object and child— becomes perfected and
becomes a holy temple,
he or she cannot become the absolute Creator, nor ascend to the position of Parent.
Consequently,
as stated in the cited passage,
a perfected human being cannot become the body of God, and
the marriage of perfected human beings cannot become God’s own marriage.
3. Conclusion.
A human being—who exists as a created object, a relative being, and a child—
even when perfected and becoming a holy temple,
cannot become the absolute Creator nor ascend to the position of Parent.
Therefore,
as the cited passage suggests,
a perfected human being cannot become the body of God, and
the marriage of perfected human beings cannot become God’s own marriage.
