스위스에서 온 청년 목수 리오나르도

아직 서른이 안된 청년 리오나르도의 작년 여름에 공동체에 머물렀던 우르슬라(작은 곰) 님의 친구 아들입니다.

스위스에서 그는 주로 독일어를 공부했기 때문에 영어에 약했고, 그래서 스코틀랜드로 영어공부를 하러 갔다고 합니다. 그곳에서 한국인 여성 연아 씨를 회화 파트너로 만나서 공부하다가 그만 사랑에 빠졌습니다. 그러한 인연으로 리오나르도는 한국에 1년에 한 번은 오게 되었고, 내년에는 결혼식을 올릴 것이라고 합니다. 한국어 공부도 열심히 하고, 웬만큼 알아듣습니다. 연아 씨의 고향 군산의 사위이자, 한국의 사위인 셈이지요.

그는 아침명상에 참가한 후 십자가의길 입구 데크 수선부터 여러 가지 목공일을 도와주었는데, 아주 성실하고 정확했습니다.

세계 1위 나라의 국민성을 약간 맛보았다고 할까요. 

그는 당초 3주간 머무르기로 했는데, 그보다 며칠 더 지냈고, 연인이 있는 군산으로 떠났습니다.

아쉬운 작별. 늘 만남이 있으면 헤어짐이 따라서 옵니다. 영원한 만남은 없지요.

그는 한국 여정을 마친 뒤 수상 레저를 즐기기 위해 호주의 어떤 섬으로 경유한 뒤에 9월쯤 고국으로 복귀한다고 합니다.

Leonardo, still in his twenties, is the son of a friend of Ursula ("Little Bear"), who stayed in our community last summer.

Having studied mainly German in Switzerland, he wasn't very confident in English, so he went to Scotland to improve his language skills. There, he met Yeona, a Korean woman, as his English conversation partner. While studying together, the two fell in love.

That relationship has brought Leonardo to Korea at least once a year, and the couple plans to get married next year. He has been studying Korean diligently and can now understand quite a bit. In a way, he is not only the future son-in-law of Gunsan, Yeona's hometown, but also Korea's son-in-law.

After joining our morning meditation, Leonardo helped repair the wooden deck at the entrance to the Way of the Cross and assisted with various carpentry projects. He worked with remarkable diligence and precision.

Perhaps we had the chance to experience a little of the work ethic of someone from the world's top-ranked country.

He had originally planned to stay for three weeks but remained a few days longer before leaving for Gunsan, where his fiancée lives.

A bittersweet farewell. Every meeting is eventually followed by parting; no reunion lasts forever.

After completing his journey in Korea, Leonardo plans to stop by an island of Austrailia to enjoy some water sports before returning home to Switzerland around September.
