뉴욕-->워싱턴DC의 행진 기록

3월17일 한국의 이상하고도 기념비적인 현재 상황을 뒤로 하고 뉴욕으로 출국.

출발(3월19일) 며칠전 박바우님 등 동지들이 뉴욕 플러싱 한인거주지역에 붙인 벽보

박바우님 집에서 예비퍼포먼스. 멀리서도 잘 보이는 이 가벼운 배너를 필자는 행진내내 들고 다닐 것이다.

한국일보사를 방문하여 설명하니 기사를 크게 내주었다.

출발전날 이춘범님의 스튜디오에서 출연한 20분짜리 인터뷰영상. 장로님이기도 한 이춘범님은 필자보다 훨씬 고령이신데, 촬영기자재들을 능란하게 다루면서 충실한 대담도 진행하신다.

이 대담내용은 여러가지 중요한 내용을 담고 있으므로 일람을 권한다.

전야모임에 많은 동지들이 참여해주셨다.

뉴욕에 머무르는 이틀간 숙박을 제공해주신 김치만(John Kim) 김루시아 부부와 함께.

19일 아침기차로 맨하탄까지 이동.

Starting again the Global Citizen's March to Stop Nuclear Wastewater Dumping (GLOMA)

There is a real crisis when we do not say bad things even when we see them.
When state power, like the Japanese government, wields violence and puts the world at risk, our people must take corrective action.
Following the 1,600km citizens’ march from Seoul to Tokyo in 2023, the Global Citizens’ Declaration was adopted in 2024.
Today, March 19, 2025, we begin a 400km walk from the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan to the White House in Washington, D.C., recalling the Fukushima disaster 14 years ago.
Just in time, the new U.S. president is talking about nuclear disarmament with the idea of denuclearizing the world.
We must do what we can. Therefore, we reaffirm the five claims of the Global Citizens’ Declaration.

1. The Japanese government, which has intentionally put humanity and the Earth's ecosystem at great risk, must immediately stop dumping nuclear contaminated water and apologize to all living things on Earth.

2. The U.S. government and the IAEA, which support Japan's ocean dumping of nuclear contaminated water, should immediately withdraw their support and seek safe measures for all living things on Earth.

3. The UN and the International Community must acknowledge and reflect on dereliction of their duty to stop Japan from dumping nuclear contaminated water into the ocean.

4. Global citizens, keep in mind that if we turn a blind eye to these errors, we are committing a crime to our descendants, and let us actively punish any country or power that intentionally commits such crimes.

5. Global citizens, let us be aware of our responsibility to protect the dignity of all life in the global village, and set the right guideposts.

작년부터 늘 필자를 후원해주신 소니아장 님을 32번가 한인타운의 식당에서 만난다.

식당에서 만난 유엔직원. 이 만남을 촬영하고 있는 이춘범님.

이 분은 우리일행의 배낭에 있는 등벽보를 보고 관심을 가졌다.

바로 이 등벽보다. 그와는 좋은 인연이 될 것 같다.

오후에는 맨하탄시내를 가로질러 9.11메모리얼파크까지 행진한다.
사진은 배너를 들고 있는 박바우님 그리고 우측에 카메라를 들고 다니며 사진을 열심히 찍고 있는 일본계 동지인 Tony Sahara님.

이윽고 9.11공원에 도착했다. 배너를 들고는 머물 수 없는 공간인데. 박바우님이 새 Trade Center 가 들어간 뒷배경을 잘 담았다.
