Good morning everyone. Today, I’d like to introduce my problem solver, my mommy. Actually, it’s not about my mommy but 3 simple steps. I think you agree that there’re many problems in our daily life such as how to keep leftovers fresher and longer or how to stop illegal garbage dumping in your yard. But lots of them are still unsolved. Why? Because people believe problem solving is arduous, time spending and nettlesome.

But what if it isn’t? What if simple 3 steps can make it easy, time saving and enjoyable?

Betterfly was created to improve the quality of life by solving your problems. Betterfly is aimed at better solution with butterfly effect on your living. It consists of 3 steps, Problem, Existing failed solutions and Core reason. First, recognize a problem that discomforts you. Second, figure out existing failed trials such as solutions people already tried but failed. And last, search for the one core reason of failures. The core reason is the best clue for you to draw Betterfly solutions.

I firstly applied the steps for my closest friend, an old cleaning grandma. She’s kind in nature but there was a day she got angry. What drove her crazy? This! Unclean urinals by male users’ poor shooting! As cleaning them is painful enough to an old lady, she was about to quit her job. As her close friend, I took Betterfly steps one by one for her. One, I thought what the problem is. Male users have a leak around urinals making them dirty. Two, I found existing solutions. A notice saying "Please pee in a urinal." or threatening “keep your critical organ well or it will be cut!" They were ineffective. Why? Because people didn’t care whether they are peeing well or not. If this reason has a hint for a Betterfly solution, what is it? Care! If I do something to make people willingly care their peeing, it means I can resolve this problem! With this insight, I ended up addressing it by simply putting a fly toy at the center of urinals thanks to an inspiration drew from a child peeing to a flying fly.

Let me tell you another example to prove that others also utilized Betterfly without knowing. Here is a case of a painter, Hainmen. Let’s look at details step by step.

Problem : While sketching, he often forgot where his eraser is.

Existing failed solutions : buying a big size eraser or putting it in a visible place.

Core reason : when he works with a pencil, an eraser is out of his attention and vice versa.

Now, can you expect what’s a hint from Core reason? Yes, as I changed lack of care to full of care, Hainmen also can have two products always in the scope of his attention and he made it! The result is what we call a pencil eraser. With Betterfly steps, problem-solving can be a pushover!

Now, we are aware of what is Betterfly and how effective it is. Actually, I took steps further to spread it to as many people to pursue greater butterfly effect. The way I chose was to use this, Smartphone, which approximately has 10 million users in Korea.

Okay, now for the technology bit. Before the Betterfly App, the most effective method for arranging ideas was a note application in which you leave records. But evolving beyond it, Betterfly App was developed based on three features. Convenience, Sharing and Realization.

First, this app is convenient. The first page informs you about the newest, the hottest and recently realized Betterflys. And you can add and check your Betterfly in an adding section with others categorized into several parts in another page.

Second, this app carries out a function of sharing. One-click sharing system permits others to see and comment on yours. Voting on the best one is also possible and the most numerously voted Betterfly is shown on top.

And last, this app is even able to materialize solutions. Those opening a problem can select the best for them. At the same time, they are allowed to request actual aids to voters for the best in order to make solutions true. Following realization, the results will be on the Genius section in the first page.

Now, I’m going to give you a bit of a demonstration. Traditionally, what would you do when facing illegal garbage dumping in your front yard? You might curse them of course. Plus, you may choose forceful means such as warning signs or watch cameras. With the amount of garbage getting bigger and bigger, you come to believe as the yard is seen appropriate as a garbage dump, no one feel guilty by their littering. The same went for me and I appealed for helping hands to other Betterfly users. I typed my problem, and existing failed solutions choosing the sharing function and pushed save. Nicknamed Holly delivered a great idea, saying “Your Core reason of failures is that your space looks a dumping ground that allows people’s wrongdoing. Why don’t you change it into a place like a flower garden where people would never allow waste?” To my amazement, it worked! The better I nurtured it in my ground, the more people preferred enjoying it rather than ruining.

Needless to say, problems always occur in our daily life. Whether trivial or not, problem is definitely annoying to deal with. But what if you can enjoy resolving the problems with less time and effort? What if all people share their results for others and even make them reality? These can be real by means of Betterfly.
